Footballer Quaydarius Davis was arrested on April 12 and booked into the Tulsa County Jail, Oklahoma, on charges of domestic abuse and battery by strangulation, as per WAFB 9. Additionally, the 22-year-old football player was also booked on charges of first-degree burglary.
Quaydarius Davis is a collegiate footballer originally from Dallas, Texas. A wide receiver, Davis is ranked at no. 178 in player ratings, as per 247Sports. Davis graduated from Skyline, assisting the high school with a 5-5 record as a senior in 2020, according to 247Sports.
Davis initially played collegiate football at Jackson State University during the 2022 season as a freshman, where he completed 57 receiving yards, as per the school’s website. Later, Davis transferred to Texas Southern for the 2023 season, where he scored a touchdown in a game against Prairie View A&M University, according to HBCU Sports.
As per ESPN, Davis played the 2024 season with Southern Jaguars, of Southern University. However, WAFB 9 reported that a spokesperson for the team said that in October 2024, Davis was dismissed from the Southern Jaguars after the wide receiver flouted the team’s rules, and is no longer affiliated with the Southern University Athletics.
Meanwhile, Davis himself had announced a week ago that he would be entering the transfer portal as a grad transfer with one year of eligibility left. In a message posted to his Instagram page a week ago, Davis had also thanked Southern Jaguars fans, coaches and his teammates as he announced his impending transfer.
About Quaydarius Davis’ domestic abuse charges
Quaydarius Davis’ arrest comes in wake of a viral video, which allegedly shows him strangling his girlfriend, influencer Ja'Yunna Monae. In the video, which is footage from a CCTV camera, a man, allegedly Davis, can be seen struggling with a woman and then choking her until she goes limp, which is when the man throws her on the ground and walks off.
The video was initially posted to Monae’s social media pages. In the caption, Monae alleged that Quaydarius Davis assaulted her. She wrote:
“DOMESTIC VIOLENCE IS NEVER OK . This man choked me until I passed out and p**d on myself , he kicked my door down , punched me numerous times all because I didn’t wanna be with him anymore . QUAYDARIUS DAVIS @wakemup2 A SOUTHERN UNIVERSITY COLLEGE KID WHO IS ENTERING THE DRAFT THIS YEAR .”
Monae also alleged that Davis was involved in another domestic abuse case, writing:
“He lied to me about his case with his babymother and said she lied about him hitting her and later admitted that he did hit her, and put her in the hospital.”
Although Davis has not commented on Monae’s present or past allegations, reports into alleged domestic abuse by the wide receiver had surfaced in 2021. Davis was initially recruited by University of Kansas to play collegiate football. However, in March 2021, the university said in a statement that they terminated Davis’ recruitment based on the investigation of domestic violence allegations against the football player, as per Kansan, the university’s student paper.
Meanwhile, Monae provided an update on the allegations against Davis in a post on X. She wrote:
“I’m ok , my downstairs neighbors gots cameras , my upstairs neighbors got cameras pointed directly towards my door . Everything is captured… I called the police ,my neighbors called the police ..I will be pressing charges , and NO I AM NOT GOING BACK . I’m the one who initiated the break up cause so many red flags were occurring .”
As per WBRZ, Quaydarius Davis’ bail has been set at $20,000.
