Patrick Vettori, the younger brother of UFC middleweight fighter Marvin Vettori, has died from a house fire in Mezzocorona, a town in the province of Trento in Italy, at the age of 30.

According to reports, it was shortly before 5 a.m. when neighbors saw smoke billowing from his apartment and sounded the alarm. Despite emergency services responding quickly, Patrick was confirmed dead from inhaling smoke.

Investigation indicated that the fire had likely originated from a domestic accident, possibly a pot being left unattended on a stove. Patrick lived alone and was well known in the local community, as a member of the Vettori family and also for his increasing involvement in local politics.

According to a report by TgCom24, Few days earlier, Patrick had officially declared his candidacy for the upcoming municipal elections in Mezzocorona, competing alongside others on the Civica per Mezzocorona list. Professionally, Patrick was involved in the family real estate business.

Addressing his death, his elder sibling and mixed martial arts star Marvin Vettori wrote a heartfelt message on Instagram. Marvin referred to his brother as his source of strength and inspiration and said he was devastated by his sudden death.

"You were and will always be number one, my little brother! You left us leaving an unfillable void, I will love you until my last breath... You were creating a wonderful future for yourself and I can't get over it," Marvin Vettori wrote on his instagram.

Marvin Vettori was born on September 20, 1993, in Trento, Italy, and kicked off his combat sports journey with wrestling at a young age. At just 19 years of age, he made his professional MMA debut in 2012.

According to Fight TV, Vettori burst onto the scene early in his career, winning four fights in 2015. Admitting to the necessity for additional advanced training, he moved to America.

There have been a few defining fights that shaped Marvin Vettori’s career, and helped him solidify his name in the UFC. These include his 2016 victory over Vitor Miranda, and his 2019 win against Omari Akhmedov, as well as his career-defining victory over Jack Hermansson in 2020.

A Fight TV report suggests that Marvin Vettori has a grappling-heavy mixed martial arts style. He holds a blue belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu, which he uses to his advantage in grappling, effectively controlling opponents.
