More about Parker Aiken, as he makes rare appearance with father, Clay Aiken
Parker Aiken was born on August 8, 2008, to parents Clay Aiken and Jaymes Foster, who is David Foster's sister. Their family dynamic is quite unique, as Clay and Jaymes were never romantically involved. Instead, the two were best friends who decided to raise a child together, with Jaymes becoming pregnant via in vitro fertilization.
The American Idol singer came out as gay in 2008, shortly after the birth of his son, and appeared on the cover of the September 2008 issue of People Magazine, with his newborn son. Years later, in an interview with People Magazine, Aiken reflected on how difficult it was to come out and how it alienated him from many fans.
"It was the first decision I made as a father. I cannot raise a child to lie or to hide things. I wasn’t raised that way, and I’m not going to raise a child to do that.”
In an interview with E! News, the "Invisible" singer spoke about how protective he has been of Parker, and how he made a conscious choice to keep him out of the spotlight.
"We did a very good job, I think, for 16 years, keeping him completely out of the public eye. I wanted him to be able to grow up as normally as he could."
He also shared how proud he is of his son, while adding that his son did not wish to pursue a career in music.
I'm proud of him. I'm thrilled for him. He can sing, though, he just doesn't want to.”
In a December 2024 interview with People Magazine, Aiken spoke about the joy of watching his son grow. He said:
"I'd say the most wonderful part has been watching [Parker] grow into a young man. He is an incredibly respectful and smart and responsible young man, and that is something that I'm incredibly proud of."
In 2024, after fifteen years of shielding his son from the public eye, Parker Aiken made his TV debut alongside his father, grandmother, mother, and uncle on the reality show Celebrity Family Feud, hosted by Steve Harvey. Their team was declared as the winner, with the prize money being donated to the National Inclusion Project.
Before the show began, Clay Aiken introduced Parker to the audience, saying:
