Colin Farrell’s elder son, James Farrell, was born on September 12, 2003, during his relationship with model Kim Bordenave. Henry, his younger son, was born on October 7, 2009, to actress and singer Alicja Bachleda.

James has Angelman syndrome, a rare neurogenetic disorder, and is also nonverbal. The actor established The Colin Farrell Foundation, a nonprofit supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities, including those affected by Angelman syndrome.

James and Henry have made several public appearances together, including walking the red carpet at the 95th Academy Awards in 2023. In his acceptance speech at the 2025 SAG Awards, Farrell expressed gratitude to his sister, Claudine Farrell, acknowledging their 22-year professional partnership. He mentioned his other sister Catherine, too, the first actor in their family who inspired him to follow his passion.

Farrell shared a heartfelt message from his brother Eamonn and concluded by appreciating his parents, stating that they had brought immense joy, meaning, and depth to his life beyond what he had ever imagined.

Colin Farrell highlighted the importance of every role an actor plays

Colin Farrell also thanked fellow nominees Javier Bardem, Richard Gadd, Kevin Kline and Andrew Scott, expressing his respect and admiration. While briefly holding the award, he reflected on the nature of acting, acknowledging that everyone in the industry played a role in bringing stories to life.

He noted that although certain roles were considered leads while others were smaller parts or background roles, the essence of storytelling relied on mutual support among actors. Farrell also pointed out the collaborative nature of his work, and highlighted both the successes and failures that come with it.

In his acceptance speech at the 2025 SAG Awards, available to stream on Neflix, Farrell described acting as something that cannot be measured or defined, which he found beautiful and frustrating.

Colin Farrell and Curtis shared a friendly humor on stage. As Curtis announced the name for the award, she referred to him as the man who gave her COVID-19 at the Golden Globes. Farrell then went on to the stage to receive the award and clarified that the virus was transmitted to him by Brendan Gleeson and that he was just “spreading the love.”
