Marcello Hernandez rose to fame in 2022, when he joined SNL as Domingo, the first Gen Z to do so. On November 17, the comedian made headlines once again when he was jokingly arrested at the Kia Forum in LA as part of Sabrina Carpenter's Short n' Sweet tour.
At every performance, Sabrina Carpenter playfully "arrests" someone "hot" from the audience before she performs Juno. In the past, Millie Bobby Brown was jokingly cuffed, and on Sunday night, it was Domingo. Now, many are curious about the man who stole Sabrina's heart for the night.
All about Marcello Hernández: A comedian, soccer coach, Domingo, and more
Marcello Hernandez is a man of many talents. He grew up in Miami, Florida, having studied at the Belen Jesuit Preparatory School. In 2019, he earned a degree in Entrepreneurship and Communication from John Carroll University, and in 2021, he became the Assistant Soccer Coach at the same school he studied at.
Before he rose to fame, Hernandez wrote and performed comedy sketches online, such as on Only in Dade, a TikTok channel. By 2019, he relocated to New York to pursue a career in stand-up comedy. In 2022, he became Just for Laughs' New Face of Comedy.
In October this year, he reflected on how he copes with having a dual career on SNL and in stand-up:
"By being open to not sleeping very much. [Laughs.] If you open yourself up to being tired, you can get a lot more done. I have always been like somebody that has trouble standing still. Sometimes, I’ll be at my apartment standing still, and then I’ll be like, “This is horrible.” And then I will go do stand-up."
He went on:
"It’s something I’ve been doing since I was 18, and I just love doing it. I do feel rejuvenated right after I do it. And then the next morning, I’m like, “Wow, I was out till late. I’m tired.” It was always my dream to have the opportunities I’m having now, which is to do stand-up as much as I want or can. I’m just kind of blessed that I get to do it as much as I’m able to."
Sabrina Carpenter says Marcello Hernandez belongs in her bedroom
In a video circulating on X, Marcello Hernandez can be seen talking to Sabrina Carpenter with a mic. He says "Sabrina, I'm here," when Sabrina asks him:
"I'm so flustered. Um, where are you from?"
He responded, introducing himself as Domingo, adding that he's from "Miami, baby." Sabrina goes on:
"Miami? I wish you were from... my bedroom. What are you doing there tonight?"
Domingo retorts with a nod to Carpenter's Bad Chem lyrics, saying that he's "the cute boy with the blue jacket and the thick accent." The singer then joked back:
"Well! You sure are gorgeous, I'm getting so flustered and overwhelmed. Is there anything you wanna say before I arrest you, Domingo?"
Hernandez then delivered his rendition of the singer's popular track, Espresso, by tweaking the lyrics:
"Came all this way, had to explain, direct from Domingo. Sabrina's a friend, she's like my sis, but I would hook up, though."
Several videos circulating online show Sabrina Carpenter whipping out some fluffy pink handcuffs and apprehending Domingo.
