Gucci Mane has come under fire for allegedly refusing to pay out his ex-girlfriend, Mac Bre-Z, what she's due. Mane's former 1017 Records label signee, Mac claimed, on November 4, that she contributed to several of the rapper's albums over the years, but has yet to be adequately compensated for the same.
In her Instagram post, she outlined the claims that date back to two decades ago, alleging that Gucci Mane credited her name in his tracks without paying her for it, and even had her once take to the stands to testify for him in court, where she stood as his “alibi” in a legal case.
Who is Gucci Mane's ex-girlfriend, Mac Bre-Z? Here's all we know
Mac Bre-Z, born Lavaneka Stanae Grier, first came into the spotlight when she was featured on Gucci Mane's 2005 single Go Head. Not much is known about her, except that she was first discovered when she was in high school. She dropped her debut mixtape, Making All The Cash, in 2004.
Now 37 years old, the artist sat down for an interview with Industry Rehab's host, Burmy. In speaking about her and Gucci Mane's track, she claimed that she served as the inspiration:
"Basically, Go Head was inspired by me due to the relationship I was in with Gucci Mane. Shortly after we started dating he wrote the song and let me listen to it. Later on that day I joined him in his studio session. After he recorded his first two verses he thought it would be cool to have a woman response, so he asked me to put a verse on it and it was the last track to make his album "Trap House". I didn't expect it to be a hit, but I'm glad it was."
Mac Bre-Z claims Gucci Mane was physically abusive to her
Speaking directly to Gucci Mane via her Instagram post, her caption, which accompanied a throwback photo of the two, read:
"You loved collaborating with me on your albums & mixtapes. But I would love to get paid for my writing credits. They say you changed for the better. So why haven't you done the right thing & just compensate me for everything I'm entitled to? Everybody eating off these records but me. I never did a tell all & exposed any stories about your personal life over the [six years] we were together. When you punched me in the face I could've snitched & had you arrested while you was on bond for the murder case of Jeezy artist. I never bad mouthed you in the media... Enough is enough."
She continued, noting that "times up," and that she's "coming for what's" hers, "respectfully."
Notably, Mac Bre-Z was simply doubling down on her stance that Gucci Mane was physically abusive to her. In 2020, she told The Progress Report about the same, and a video fo Mane getting irked by her presence and pushing her at a concert has been doing the rounds online for years.
In another post, Mac Bre-Z claimed that Gucci Mane also ripped off some of her ideas:
"Gucci Been stealing my ideas & running off with them. Zaytoven was recording me at his mama house when Radric walked into my studio session while I was recording my song 'Da Kandi Lady' from my DJ Scream mixtape. He straight stole my idea. Put Brick Squad on it & shot a music video to it. Y'all don't know the half of what I went through in this industry. I'm telling my story."
She signed off the post by noting that a documentary about the same, titled Life After So Icy, is imminent.
Gucci Mane has yet to respond to the claims publicly, and it remains unclear just how much he supposedly owes Mac Bre-Z.
In yet another post, she added that she just "wants her royalties," and that a lawsuit against her former beau may be forthcoming, although it remains to be seen if this is true.
