Willie Nelson's wife Annie D'Angelo recently took to social media to clarify that she is still the primary caretaker of her husband, after news began circulating that their son, Lukas Nelson, who is a musician in his own right, is the one who primarily takes care of his parents due to their advancing age.

The renowned country singer celebrated his ninety second birthday on 29 April, surrounded by his family. Willie Nelson has been married to Annie D'Angelo for thirty four years, and the couple have two children.

Willie Nelson who was born 20 April, 1933 just before the clock struck twelve. Due to a mistake in government filing of his paperwork, the Grammy winning singer now celebrates two birthdays.

On 15 April, Channel AXS TV, posted a picture of the singer and his wife with their son, Lukas Nelson, and in the caption, the network alluded to the fact that it was Lukas who took care of his parents and "makes sure mom & dad are comfortable," as they enjoy a life of retirement. In the post, they wrote:

"Lukas Nelson takes pride in taking care of 91-yr-old dad, Willie Nelson & 63-yr-old mom, Annie D’Angelo. Lukas makes sure mom & dad are comfortable and living their best life after many long years of making rad music."

Just three days, later on 18 April, D'Angelo posted a message in the comment section under the post, stating that not only did the outlet get the ages of herself and her son wrong, but also wrongly suggested that Lukas was the one taking care of the couple. She wrote:

"Hey @axstv why would you take a photo from someone else's feed (my friend @marthacasselbodell ) & then make stuff up?. I still take care of my husband (Lukas has always been there for us as has his brother @particlekid ) and love it. Then you claim our incorrect ages. Don't do that Just ask."

Willie Nelson has been married four times and is the father of eight children. He was first married to Martha Mathews, the couple were married for ten years before divorcing in 1962. They had three children. Their first child, Lana Nelson Fowler was born in 1953.

She later married George Fowler and is the mother to two children, Bryan and Rachel, according to Hello! Magazine. Susie Nelson was born in 1956, but not much is known about her as she prefers to live her life outside the spotlight.

Their third child, Willie Nelson Jr., was born in 1958. Billie, as he was popularly known, was also a musician like his father but he passed away at the age of thirty three from an apparent suicide on 25 December. He was found unresponsive in his cabin in Tennessee and was later declared dead from alcohol poisoning according to People Magazine.

After his divorce from his first wife, the "On the Road Again" singer married Shirlie Collie, with whom he had no children. But during his eight year marriage, Nelson was involved in an affair with Connie Koepke, with whom he fathered a child, Paula Carlene Nelson. After the news of the affair was revealed, Willie Nelson and Shirlie Collie divorced in 1971, after which he married Koepke.

During her conversation on One by Willie podcast, hosted by John Spong, Paula talked about how she still gets advice from her father, who routinely appreciates her singing. She said:

"I'm extremely grateful. My dad will text me and say, 'I'm listening to you on your radio. It sounds great. You're sounding great."

The "Funny How Time Slips Away" singer welcomed Amy Lee Nelson, his second child with Koepke in 1973. Amy Lee is also a musician, who is the lead singer of the folk band, Folk Uke, according to People Magazine.

After his divorce from Koepke, Willie Nelson started dating Annie D'Angelo, whom he married in 1991. Their son, Lukas Nelson, was born on 25 December 1988.

According to his IMDB Page, Lukas is a musician, and has worked on projects like "A Star is Born," "The Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard." He is also the lead singer of the rock band Lukas Nelson & the Promise of the Real. Lukas won his first Grammy in 2020 for his collaborative work with Lady Gaga on the movie "A Star is Born."

On the same night his father won a Grammy Award for Best Country Solo Performance for his single "Ride Me Back Home," making them one of the few father son duos to win a Grammy Award on the same night. To celebrate the occasion, the "Pretty Much" singer tweeted:

"Already so humbled to have won a Grammy tonight, but it's a crazy world to be able to win the same night as my dad. A rare honor shared only with a few other incredible fathers and sons. So grateful to be a part of his legacy and watch it continue to grow."

Micah Nelson is the second son born to Willie Nelson and Annie D'Angelo. He is also a musician and has collaborated with his father on several projects. Willie Nelson has another daughter, Renee Butts, born to him and his friend Mary Haney in 1953.The singer did not know about her existence until years later in 2012, and the two reconnected until her death from cancer in 2017.

Willie Nelson continues to enjoy a close relationship with his children and grandchildren, many of whom work in the entertainment industry and have collaborated with him on several projects, including albums, tours, and television appearances.
