Lorna Luft is the daughter of the late actress Judy Garland. Like her mother, Luft also opted for a career in the entertainment industry and became a stage actress. She also appeared in the stage version of the classic 1939 movie The Wizard Of Oz in which Garland portrayed the role of Dorothy Gale. The stage version was performed at The Lowry in Manchester.
Luft portrayed the role of the Wicked Witch of the West while Margaret Hamilton portrayed the role in the original movie.
Lorna Luft began her acting career at the age of 11 and since then has performed before different audiences. Her Broadway debut came with Promises, Promises in 1971. She later played important roles in Grease in 1980, Guys And Dolls, White Christmas, and Gypsy from 1980 to 2007.
Besides Broadway, she has also starred in shows like Trapper John, Murder She Wrote, and M.D. She has also written the 1998 memoir Me And My Shadows: A Family Memoir.
For the unversed, Judy Garland got married five times and had three children. She welcomed her first child, a daughter named Liza Minnelli, with her second husband, director Vincente Minnelli. Later, she married producer Sid Luft and welcomed another daughter, Lorna Luft, and son Joey Luft.

The late actress became an American cultural icon after her award-winning performance in the 1939 movie. She also played the lead role in A Star Is Born and won a Golden Globe for the same.
During an interview with People Magazine, Liza addressed the pressure to match up to her mother's success, saying,
"When your mother was the greatest, I mean, it was a little heavy."
"Lorna has to deal with that and with me," she added.
Besides the late actress' legacy, Lorna has often mentioned how her mother was also a hilarious woman. In 2022, during a conversation with Entertainment Tonight, she said,
"Our mom had such an extraordinary sense of humor, and that was her survival guide."
"We just find the funny because I think that is the way that we were raised and brought up and we watched a woman who found the funny."
Garland struggled with drug and alcohol addiction since the age of 15. She died in 1969 at the age of 47.
Lorna Luft says her mother would have loved Wicked

Talking about the movie at the opening night of Stephen Sondheim's Old Friends, Lorna Luft told to People Magazine that her mother "would've loved it."
"I have no idea. But she would've loved it."
