Justin Baldoni's Man Enough co-host Liz Plank has parted ways with the podcast, following allegations that the actor has been dealing with from his It Ends with Us co-star Blake Lively.
Plank took to social media Monday to announce her decision in the wake of Lively accusing Baldoni of s*xually harassing her and orchestrating a scheme to tarnish her public image.
Liz Plank is a Canadian journalist, filmmaker, and author of the book For the Love of Men. The 37-year-old makes regular appearances on TV programs, where she offers insights on politics, gender issues, and reproductive rights. As reported by The Kaleidoscope Society, back in the spring of 2021, she discovered she has ADHD. She is perhaps most known for her NBC News journalism show called Positive Spin. She also works as a columnist for MSNBC.
Liz Plank fails to acknowledge her co-star's drama, read her reason for leaving Justin Baldoni's Man Enough below:
In her statement on Monday, Liz Plank took to Instagram to pen the following:
"I'm writing to you today to let you know that I have had my representatives inform [Baldoni's production company] Wayfarer that I will no longer be cohosting the Man Enough podcast. Thank you for trusting me with your hearts and stories, for holding space for mine, and for making this show what it was."
She went on:
"I will miss you, the listeners, so much. I love what this community created together with every fiber of my being, and that’s because of you. As this chapter closes for me, I remain committed to the values we've built together. Thank you for being here, for trusting me, and for being by my side for the last four years. We all deserve better, and I know that together, we can create it."
While Plank has yet to formally address the ongoing drama involving Justin Baldoni, she did appear to allude to it in her statement:
"I will have more to share soon as I continue to process everything that has happened. In the meantime, I will continue to support everyone who calls out injustice and holds the people standing in their way accountable.”
A Deadline report says Man Enough was launched in 2021, and it “explores what it means to be a man today and how rigid gender roles have affected all people.” Plank served as the co-host, alongside Justin Baldoni and Jamey Heath, both of whom have been named as defendants in Lively's lawsuit.
On December 20, Blake Lively filed a complaint with the California Civil Rights Department, accusing Justin Baldoni of s*xually harassing her on the set of It Ends with Us, and claimed that he and his crisis PR team deliberately tried to take down her public image in the wake of the movie's release.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Lively's complaint outlines Baldoni's alleged "invasive, unprofessional and sexually inappropriate behavior” on set. The actress has termed the smear campaign as a "sophisticated, coordinated, and well-financed retaliation plan" to damage her public standing.
"Mr. Baldoni was desperate to suppress any suggestion that he engaged [in] inappropriate conduct, much less sexually harassing conduct, because it would entirely undermine his carefully curated public image as a feminist ally," the complaint says.
However, Justin Baldoni's legal counsel has since denied the allegations, refuting them as nothing but "categorically false." In a statement given to the outlet on Monday, he said:
"TAG PR operated as any other crisis management firm would when hired by a client experiencing threats by two extremely powerful people with unlimited resources."
He further claimed The New York Times, which broke the news over the weekend, "played directly into the hands of Lively’s own dubious PR tactics by publishing leaked personal text exchanges that lack critical context — the very same tactics she’s accusing the firm of implementing."
In the wake of the lawsuit, scores have come forth as a show of support to Blake Lively, including Sony Pictures, Sag-AFTRA, Colleen Hoover, and more.
