Libby Titus was married to Steely Dan's Donald Fagen since 1993, until her death on October 13, at the age of 77.

Fagen took to Steely Dan's website, announcing the news of her death, while not revealing the cause,

"My beautiful wife, Libby Titus Fagen, passed on October 13th surrounded by family. Thanks for keeping us in your thoughts and for respecting our privacy at this time."

Titus was best known for co-writing the song, Love Has No Pride, creating the New York Rock and Soul Revue with Fagen.

More about Libby Titus

Libby Titus gained recognition for co-writing Love Has No Pride with Eric Kaz. He had released another version of the same song in 1977 and the tune had been covered by Rod Stewart, Billy Bragg, Rita Wilson, Jane Monheit and others.

In her short career as a recording artist, Libby revealed two self-titled albums. Her first album with the independent Hot Biscuit Disc Company label in 1968, included covers of tracks like The Fool on the Hill and You Didn't Have To Be So Nice.

She released her second album on Columbia almost a decade later in 1977. Four songs in the album were co-written by Libby and a list of producers including Robbie Robertson, Paul Simon, Carly Simon and Phil Ramone.

Titus also co-wrote songs with Burt Bacharach for his Woman album in the 70s and also had significant contributions on Carly Simon albums. She formed the Rock and Soul Revue, a musical project supergroup.

She appeared as a musical guest on Saturday Night Live on October 15, 1977 during it's third season. In 1966, the singer married novelist Barry Titus, grandson of Helena Rubinstein and separated in 1968.

The two share a son, writer Ezra Titus. From 1969 to much of 1970s, Titus was with musician Levon Helm and the two had a daughter together, singer, Amy Helm.

She then went on to meet Donald Fagen, who first saw her "from a distance" on the Bard College Campus, and the two tied the knot in 1993.

In January, 2016, Titus claimed that she sustained injuries after Fagen allegedly shoved her against a window frame at their apartment in Upper East Side, and that she was divorcing him. However, the two reconciled later.

Libby Titus was known for being "glamourous and compelling." Her charming personality prompted Carly Simon to write a song on her titled Libby.

She was also the inspiration behind Dr. John's piano composition, Pretty Album, Wendy Waldman's Long Hot Summer Nights and Donald Fagen's The Great Pagoda of Fun.
