Kjersti Flaa, a Norwegian journalist and celebrity interviewer, was drawn into an ongoing controversy after two of her old exchanges with the actresses Anne Hathaway and Blake Lively gained popularity online for being uncomfortable.
In August 2023, Flaa posted a 2016 interview from an interview for the movie Café Society featuring the actress Blake Lively.
In the interview Flaa congratulated Lively on her pregnancy, calling attention to her “little bump,” but was greeted with an icy response by the actress, who said “Congrats on your little bump,” knowing that Flaa was not pregnant.
Kjersti Flaa, a renowned journalist, is responsible for exciting celebrity interviews and multimedia projects for Elle International. Flaa also co-hosts entertainment content for HollyWire on Samsung TV Plus (Critics Choice Awards).
As a Hollywood specialist, the journalist has been featured in more than 25 documentaries on the German TV network Kabel Eins. Her celebrity-interview YouTube channel has nearly 100 million views.
The clip, called “The Blake Lively Interview That Made Me Want to Quit My Job,” has more than 5 million views on Flaa's YouTube channel, with viewers calling out the tension. But Flaa said her decision to post the video wasn’t meant to be a shot at Lively.
However, some fans alleged that Flaa was intentionally initiating backlash against the actress, especially since Lively was already being scrutinized over her recent promotional work for the film It Ends With Us. To which Flaa responded by saying:
“Back then, when I did that interview, I never wanted to post it on YouTube, because I knew if I did, A, I would probably never be invited again by her publicists, clients or the studio again,”
As the alleged smear campaign orchestrated by Justin Baldoni against Blake Lively comes to public notice. Flaa In a recent YouTube video clarified that she had no part to play in the smear campaign.
More about the ongoing controversy between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni
Blake Lively has filed a legal complaint against her It Ends With Us co-star and director Justin Baldoni for s*xual harassment and launching a smear campaign to discredit her.
The complaints were raised after a meeting on January 4, 2023, where Lively, joined by her husband, actor Ryan Reynolds, accused Baldoni and Wayfarer Studios’ CEO Jamey Heath of creating a toxic environment for those working on set during the film’s production (BBC).
The legal filing details are claims of Baldoni and Jamey Heath repeatedly acting inappropriately, including references to their p*rn addiction and adding unwanted elements to explicit scenes outside of the approved script. Baldoni also allegedly commented on Lively’s weight and her late father.
BBC reported that Baldoni's legal team denied the allegations which, they stated, are false and have been made to cause harm.
They also accused Lively of making threats to not promote the film to force the studio to comply with her demands.
