Former frontwoman of the metal band Crisis, Karyn Crisis, has launched crowdfunding after becoming disabled and disfigured as a result of a medical injury. Crisis created a GoFundMe page revealing that she was medically injured roughly two years ago, leaving her disabled and disfigured after being described with topical steroids.
Crisis was the frontwoman for the metal band, Crisis from 1993-2006. The band was touted for blending elements of hardcore doom and progressive metal releasing popular albums like Deathshead Extermination (1996), and, The Hollowing (1997).
After Crisis was disbanded, Karyn went on to explore her spiritual and artistic interests by forming Gospel of the Witches with her husband, Davide Tiso. Other than being a musical artist, Karyn is also an accomplished visual artist, and a writer covering literature on her spiritual experiences and witchcraft practices.

Karyn Crisis launched a fundraiser on GoFundMe seeking aid after medical complications made her disabled. In her GoFundMe page, Karyn while describing her current situation mentions:
"2 years and 10 months ago I was medically injured, which as left me disabled and disfigured and facing unpredictable and violent attacks of pain daily, along with other complications."
She went on to add:
"I don’t recognize myself in the mirror, which is the least of my issues in taking care of myself. I can only walk on one foot, hobble, a few blocks. I cannot wear regular shoes, I have to customize them. I cannot regulate my body temperature: I am boiling hot and freezing cold at the same time."
The artist also mentioned that people can buy her books and vinyl by mailing her from her website, if they don't wish to contribute to the fundraiser. Her GoFundMe page has raised around $12,000, more than double her initial goal of $5k.

This isn't the first time a GoFundMe page was created on behalf of Karyn Crisis. In September 2022, Crisis' husband, Davide Tiso, launched a GoFundMe page to support Karyn who had been going through "the very painfully and daily-life altering condition called 'topical steroid withdrawal.'" As per the page, Crisis has experienced a "full-body purge" since March 2022, which disabled her.
Tiso also noted that there is no certainty of when the disability will end. In 2022, Criris mentioned that she could not sleep in her bed due to "intense heat flares and pain" and had to walk with crutches.
