Ex-Cleveland Browns wide receiver Kadarius Toney has been in the news lately for his arrest. The 26-year-old emerging NFL player allegedly assaulted a woman at a residence in Douglasville on January 14, 2025.
According to Associated Press, the arrest records stated that Kadarius Toney has been accused of strangling a woman. According to reports, the woman was strangulated with an extreme amount of force such that she had red marks around her neck and blotches in her eyes. Toney has also been accused of preventing the woman from seeking help by blocking her attempts to dial 911.
The incident allegedly took place on January 14. Toney was brought into custody on February 6, and his bail was set at $50,000. Following the fulfilment of bail, the footballer was released.
Kadarius Toney’s personal life
Much has been written about Kadarius Toney’s NFL career, but as Toney does not have an Instagram account to keep fans updated, there is not much that is known about the wide receiver’s personal life.
Toney has been dating Charnesia Lumpkin, and the couple have been reportedly together since 2019. Lumpkin, a 28 year old Atlanta-based entrepreneur, graduated from University of Alabama, and is a nail technician who own various nail studios. She is also a behavioural health technician according to her social media profiles. With multiple feathers in her cap, Lumpkin is also a budding influencer.
Lumpkin and Toney welcomed a baby girl on January 27, 2024. Earlier, they were seen hosting an elaborate baby shower while awaiting the birth. The couple named their daughter Zoie. Toney shares his birthday with his daughter, and Lumpkin wrote a heartfelt birthday message for Toney on her Instagram stories. Calling their daughter Toney’s twin, Lumpkin wrote:

In the wake of Toney’s absence from social media, Lumpkin keeps fans updated with images of their daughter Zoie. Most recently, Toney was seen in a reel posted to Lumpkin’s Instagram celebrating Zoie’s birthday. Lumpkin was visibly pregnant, and is awaiting the arrival of a baby boy this time. Toney was seen accompanying his daughter and Lumpkin, and the three could be seen happily posing and cradling Lumpkin’s baby bump.
Kadarius Toney’s NFL career
Kadarius Toney was recruited by the New York Giants in NFL’s 2021 draft from the University of Florida. In 2022, Toney became a part of the Kansas City Chiefs through a trade with the New York Giants. According to giants.com, the Giants coach Brian Daboll wished Toney luck, saying:
"We just thought it was for the best of the team and wish Kadarius well.”
During the Super Bowl concluding the 2022 season, Toney set an impressive record of the longest punt return, and the Kansas City Chiefs won the title defeating Philadelphia Eagles 38-35.
