Jon Ebeling, an actor and former collaborator of Brian Jordan Alvarez, has accused the creator of the acclaimed series English Teacher of sexual assault.
Jon Ebeling was born in Flower Mound, Texas, on April 10, 1988. Ebeling is famous for his writing and acting in shows and movies such as Good Luck with Everything, Jeff Can't Swim, and The Gay and Wondrous Life of Caleb Gallo.
Jeff Can’t Swim, a 2021 short film written by Jon Ebeling, won the Audience Award for Best Narrative Short at the 2021 Austin Film Festival. In 2020, the film also received the Programmer's Award at the Sherman Oaks Film Festival (IMDB).
Ebeling has also starred in Everything Is Free (2017), which helped improve his growth and chances in the industry. The film later received a nomination for the Outstanding First Feature Award at the 2018 Frameline San Francisco International LGBTQ Film Festival.
The Vulture, in a recent article, reported that Jon Ebeling described two separate alleged incidents involving Alvarez that he said happened during their time working together in the web series The Gay and Wondrous Life of Caleb Gallo.
Ebeling claims that the first assault happened in 2015 after a consensual hookup, while the second happened while filming a scene for Caleb Gallo in 2016.
Jon Ebeling states that during the scene where Alvarez’s character asked to perform or*l s*x, Alvarez, without his consent, began performing the act. Ebeling said she felt paralyzed and powerless on set, as reported by Vulture.
Through his legal representatives, Alvarez denied the allegations, stating that all interactions between him and Jon Ebeling were consensual. Alvarez’s representative cited a recording from 2018 in which Ebeling allegedly agreed to the consensual nature of their relationship, which The Wrap reported.
