Jasmine Mooney, a Canadian businesswoman and actress, was reportedly detained by the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) earlier this month.
Her mother, Alexis Eagles, wrote a Facebook post revealing that Jasmine attempted to enter the U.S. on March 3, 2025, with a consulting visa, following which she was detained by the ICE. Eagles told The Vancouver Sun:
“It’s been 11 days, just release her [Jasmine]. It doesn’t make sense to spend taxpayer dollars to continue to detain her when she’s not a criminal.”
Mooney is a business consultant at Jasmine Tera Consulting, per her LinkedIn profile. She is also the co-founder of the health beverage brand Holy! Water. Jasmine appeared on a business reality show, Entrepreneur Elevator Pitch, where she pitched for her PHD-led company.
Apart from her business ventures, the 35-year-old has also done minor acting roles in the past. Jasmine Mooney has appeared in movies like American Pie Presents: The Book of Love, Badge of Honor, and Loudermilk, among others.
Per her IMDb page, the actress’ last appearance was in 37-Teen, following which she has seemingly shifted focus to her entrepreneurial role.

The 35-year-old entrepreneur and actress attempted to enter the US on March 3, 2025, on a consulting visa for a firm based in the stateside. According to Eagles' Facebook post, Mooney’s visa was revoked. ICE then reportedly detained her at the San Ysidro border crossing.
Following Mooney’s detention, she was held at the same place for three days before ICE reportedly transferred her to San Diego’s Otay Mesa Detention Center. Eagles further shared how the online tracking system displayed that Jasmine Mooney was released by the authorities on March 9.
Eagles further wrote:
“We eventually learned that about 30 people, including Jasmine, were forcibly removed from their cells at 3:00 am and transferred to the San Luis Detention Center in Arizona. They are housed together in a single concrete cell with no natural light, fluorescent lights that are never turned off, no mats, no blankets, and limited bathroom facilities.”
ABC 10 News San Diego’s Austin Grabish got a chance to talk to Jasmine Mooney, who was still being held at Arizona's detention center. The Canadian entrepreneur described the whole process as “inhumane.” She told Grabish:
"I don't want this to be just for me, because my situation is way better than everyone else's... I really want to be a voice for the women in here, because what is happening is so unjust, and I know that there's a better way to do this. I genuinely think that the administration doesn't even know what's happening."
Mooney added:
"Because if anyone did know what's happening, there's no way that this would be acceptable or allowed."
The detainee also talked about her two-and-a-half-day experience of staying at the Otay Mesa Detention Center. She shared:
“I was put in a cell, and I had to sleep on a mat with no blanket, no pillow, with an aluminum foil wrapped over my body like a dead body for two and a half days.”
Mooney claimed in the interview that she was among the 30 women who were rounded up and moved to the Arizona-based facility. While in detention, Mooney also met another Canadian woman, who was reportedly married to a US citizen and was still being held because
“her paperwork wasn’t proper.”
ABC 10 News San Diego also spoke to Jasmine’s best friend, who is trying to pressure the Canadian government to step in and help the 35-year-old return home.
