Kate Mara, 42, is the mother of two beautiful children she welcomed with her husband, Jamie Bell. The American actress is also the stepmother to Bell's son with his first wife, Evan Rachel Wood.

Recently, Mara attended the iconic SXSW Film & TV Festival for the premiere of her new film, The Astronaut. She spoke with People at the event and revealed that she watched her movie with a special guest.

Calling her stepson "the movie's biggest fan", Kate expressed the experience of watching The Astronaut for the first time.

"I brought my eldest kid with me to see the film for the first time, I hadn't seen it yet. I brought him with me in a pretty big audience, and everyone was on the edge of their seats."

Describing it as "a very thrilling experience", Kate further continued:

"Feels very much like a roller coaster. You feel like you're on a ride."

The much-awaited sci-fi thriller kept the 11-year-old moviegoer on edge. The actress elaborated on the kid's reaction to watching The Astronaut for the first time and explained:

"He was freaking out the entire time. He kept saying, 'Tell me what's going to happen, tell me how it ends' the whole time, literally from the very first scene."

The little one loved the movie directed by Jess Varley:

"He was like, 'Okay, what's going to happen next?' But he loves it. He has an astronaut jacket that he wears out every day. He's the movie's biggest fan."

Jamie Bell has three children

The 38-year-old actor is the father of three kids, one with his ex-wife and the next two with his present partner.

Jamie Bell married Evan Rachel Wood in October 2012. Before getting divorced in May 2014, the former couple welcomed their first child, a son, in July 2013.

Jamie married Kate in July 2017 and had two kids with her. Mara gave birth to their first daughter in May 2019 and welcomed their second child, a son, in November 2022.

According to a 2014 BBC report, Bell and Wood met while shooting the renowned song Wake Me Up When September Ends by Green Day. They met while making the beautiful music video and started dating in 2005.

However, they called it quits the following year but patched up again and married in 2012.

Following Jamie Bell and Evan Rachel Wood's much-talked-about divorce in 2014, a spokesperson revealed to US Weekly:

"This is a mutual decision and the two remain close friends. They both love and respect one another and will of course remain committed to co-parenting their son."

The former couple fought a custody dispute over their son. In 2020, Evan decided to shift to Nashville. Jamie was unhappy with this decision and felt she was preventing him from meeting their only child.

Following legal proceedings and arrangements, their son lives with Jamie Bell in Los Angeles. His mother got visitation rights for an extended weekend monthly, specific holidays, and school breaks.

As per a Yahoo report, Rachel "shall have custody of Jack one (1) extended weekend per month from Friday, after school or 10:00 a.m."
