Isaiah Stokes was found guilty of murdering Tyrone Jones after a two-week trial

The two-week jury trial in the case of Tyrone Jones’ murder commenced in mid-February, with I$AIAH as a defendant. The verdict was delivered recently, with the actor-musician facing conviction. Isaiah Stokes was found guilty of second-degree murder and two counts of CPW 2 (criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree).

The judge has set the sentencing date for Friday, March 21, and Stokes can face up to 25 years in prison. After the conviction was announced, Queens County DA Melinda Katz commented on the verdict,

“This was a calculated murder. The defendant, a part-time actor, stewed for months after being thrown out of a birthday party for his own inappropriate behavior. Intent on revenge, Isaiah Stokes placed a GPS on the victim’s car and tracked Tyrone Jones down to Linden Boulevard, where he ruthlessly shot the man 11 times as he sat in his car.”

DA Katz voiced her office’s stance against “gun violence.” She also thanked the NYPD detectives and prosecutors for their assistance in building the case against the defendant. The District Attorney concluded,

“The jury has now spoken, and the defendant faces up to 25 years to life at sentencing for his criminal actions.”

The 37-year-old Tyrone Jones was fatally shot in February 2021 in St. Albans, Queens. Isaiah Stokes reportedly rented a vehicle with New Jersey license plates and used it to reach the place where the shooting incident happened. After parking his car in the afternoon, the defendant is said to have approached Tyrone Jones’ car and shot at it 11 times.

Per the DA's office, the victim suffered gunshot wounds to the head and chest. He was declared dead on the scene, while Isiah Stokes is believed to have escaped in his rented car, which he returned days later. The prosecutors alleged that the defendants operated with the intent of revenge following an altercation that seemingly happened in 2020.

The NYPD officers apprehended Isaiah in July 2021 at his apartment. They subsequently discovered evidence related to a GPS device that the defendant seemed to have planted under Tyrone Jones’ vehicle.
