According to Express, Mestitz is a psychologist. She and Pearce met when they were 12 in 1980. They attended Geelong College, and after dating for a while, they tied the knot in 1997. In January 2015, the two called it quits. Pearce confirmed their separation via X (formerly Twitter) and mentioned that the rumors about their split were true.

In a recent interview with The Guardian, Pearce got candid about his love life and revealed how his ex-wife was the "greatest love of my life." It changed when he moved on and had a son with Game Of Thrones star Carice van Houten.

"My ex-wife, Kate, was the greatest love of my life, but I’ve moved on from her now and the greatest love of my life is my child, Monte."

Talking more about his separation from his former wife, Guy Pearce added that he "felt like he messed up" his marriage.

Following his split from Mestitz, Pearce began dating van Houten after meeting on the Brimstone sets. In 2016, the couple welcomed their son, Monte, and Pearce himself announced the same via X.

Rumors about Guy Pearce cheating on Kate Mestitz were also rife when he was dating van Houten. Speaking on Andrew Denton's Interview in 2018, the LA Confidential star set the record straight and claimed that "the last couple of years trying to protect Kate in all of this." He added that he also particularly did not say "it was her decision to end our marriage."

Pearce further said that people called him a "b*stard," claiming that he was having an affair with Carice, got her pregnant, and then left his wife. "That's so not what happened," he argued.

Being labeled as a "b*stard" left him heartbroken, which is why he revealed that it was Mestitz who abruptly ended their marriage. He claimed that the psychologist and his wife for 18 years said, "You know what, our time’s up," and called it quits.

Pearce claimed that he "couldn’t believe it for a long time" that their journey was ending. According to the actor, the reason behind the split was that Mestitz felt they were "probably some of those kids when we got married, too."

After meeting in 2015, Guy Pearce and Carice van Houten became parents early in their relationship. The arrival of their son, per the actor, forced them to take a step back and "start again mature and responsible about this and work out the best way to be."

While they were together for several years, van Houten recently confirmed their split.

Last month, van Houten confirmed via an Instagram story that she and Pearce's relationship ended "years" ago. Mentioning how she does not "usually engage in discussions about my personal life," the actor was forced to give an explanation as her relationship with Pearce was being widely discussed.

He added how she is still friends with Pearce, and they have love for each other, but they parted ways years ago.

"I am, however, very proud to say we are in a wonderful partnership raising the true love of our lives — our beautiful son and his hamster," van Houten added.

Allegedly, Guy Pearce is not currently dating. He has been making headlines for his alleged unpleasant experience about working with Kevin Spacey.
