George Lowe, the iconic voice behind Space Ghost in the show, Space Ghost Coast to Coast, passed away on Wednesday, 2 March. His representatives confirmed the news of his passing to Deadline.

In 2023, he was hospitalized due to a sudden decline in his health. The news was confirmed by MC Chris, a writer on the beloved show. In a Facebook post, Chris provided an update on the voice actor's health. He wrote:

"A fan wrote me concerned that they hadn’t heard from George Lowe (aka Space Ghost) on FB for a long time so I checked in on him. He’s actually had some health problems, had a bad February which required an aortic dissection and he had to be intubated twice and we came close to losing him. He’s been in a nursing home and rehab and has had to return to the hospital as well to get his medication corrected. He now has a nurse looking after him in his home in Florida."

He continued:

"The good news is he was capable of texting me so I take that as a good sign. Please spread the word if you have Adult Swim fan pages. We all love George and his show was the cornerstone of early era Adult Swim before it was called Adult Swim. Much would be different without his humor and efforts. We love you George! Please gimme a Space Ghost quote in the comments and keep him in your thoughts.”

Broadcaster Marvin Boone, a longtime friend of Lowe, paid a heartfelt tribute to him on Facebook. He said:

"I’m beyond devastated. My Zobanian brother and best friend for over 40 years, George Lowe, has passed away after a long illness. A part of me had also died. He was a supremely talented Artist and Voice actor.

He continued:

A true warm hearted Genius. Funniest man on Earth too. I’ve stolen jokes from him for decades. He stole some of mine. He was also the voice of Space Ghost and so much more. Pweeloto.”

Fans are mourning George Lowe and are sharing heartfelt tributes to celebrate his unique talent, humor, and legacy.
