Gavin Casalegno is sharing the key to a happy first year of marital bliss.

Five months after he tied the knot, The Summer I Turned Pretty star told Page Six reporters at an event for his Kai Lo clothing brand at La La Land Kind Cafe in Los Angeles:

“A lot of time, people say the first year of marriage is the hardest, but being able to work on Kai Lo and the passion projects that we have actually made it really enjoyable and has helped us get on the same page creatively."

He added,

“We just had a blast. You can’t take it too seriously. The second you do, is when all the joy gets sucked out of it. So we’ve really just been trying to enjoy ourselves and make the most of it.”

Kai Lo debuted their Depth collection recently and is currently up for purchase online.

Gavin Casalegno married Cheyanne Casalegno, 23, in November 2023. Their nuptials were small, and the actor, who stars as Jeremiah Fisher in the Amazon Prime Video series, conceded that his TV brother, Chris Briney, was not in attendance.

Casalegno took to Instagram shortly after he tied the knot to share photos from his wedding ceremony, having penned in the caption at the time:

"FOREVER CAPTIVATED BY YOU🕊️."

Cheyanne wore a long chiffon gown with lace detailing on her off-the-shoulder sleeves, while Gavin Casalegno kept things simple with a classic black suit and crisp white shirt.

She was hands-on with realizing her husband's clothing line, and even modeled for a white “Pursue Wonder” baby tee ($46.00) ahead of the launch. According to Page Six, their shared faith inspired Gavin Casalegno to launch T-shirts and hoodies with inspirational quotes, including “Power Is In Your Perspective,” “Vulnerability Is Underrated,” and “Depth Over Surface.”

Reflecting on why he chose to keep his relationship a secret, he told the outlet:

“I’ve done the opposite [before] where it was more public and weighed the pros and cons. I think your personal life and your work life should be separate. That’s just really something I took to heart. We really want to grow in private and not in the public eye because sometimes when you’re in the public eye, you can’t get out of it. So why not just make the most of it and deepen that relationship rather than let the public have their opinions?”

Season 3 of The Summer I Turned Pretty is slated to come out this July, and it follows Gavin Casalegno, who portrays Jeremiah Fisher, and Christopher Briney, who embodies his on-screen brother, Conrad Fisher, as they pine for the love of Lola Tung’s character, Belly.
