Former America's Got Talent contestant Emily Gold has died by an apparent su*cide, as per the San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner Department's statement to EW on the night of September 13. She was 17 at the time of her death.
She was found dead under a bridge on the eastbound 210 Highway in Rancho Cucamonga. As per a statement by California Highway Patrol Public Information Officer Rodrigo Jimenez to People,
"Officers from the California Highway Patrol Rancho Cucamonga area responded to a report of a pedestrial down in the lanes. When the officers arrived, they found a 17-year old female who had been struck by at least one vehicle in the carpool lane on eastbound 210. Unfortunately, the female succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene."
The dancer had been on the Los Osos High School dance team and reached the quarterfinals of America's Got Talent with her team.
The team performed an Usher medley tribute in June and returned with dance choreography on songs from Black Eyed Peas and Tag Team's Whoomp! (There it is). Judge Simon Cowell while praising their first performance said,
"I don't know anything about dance. However, that to me was an event. Really."
Cowell also added that the dance performance reminded him "of seeing the High School Musical movie and thinking every kid should go to a school like that."
However, the group was eliminated in the quarterfinals.
