Dominican rapper El Alfa, 34, announced his retirement from music following the death of his grandmother, Ramonita, on January 3. Through an Instagram post, he expressed grief, talked about her influence, and set 18 December 2025 as the date for his retirement.
The sudden retirement announcement by the 34-year-old rapper comes after his grandmother passed away on January 3. He shared his grief with his 14 million followers. He shared a series of photos of his grandmother throughout the years, from the moments he was a child to the moments he made it as an artist.

In this emotional Instagram post, El Alfa shared his sorrow and the significant influence his grandmother played on his music career and life. He shared his sorrow with the caption:
“I know life goes on, but my feelings don’t go unnoticed. My grandmother taught me to love God above all things; therefore, I will mourn in her memory,”
Following the death of his grandmother, the 'Si Supieras' hitmaker is taking some time off from social media. He went on to say:
“Her happiness was to see me succeed, but I can’t even stay awake!! I say goodbye momentarily to my audience that loves me. I’ll be back soon, goodbye Instagram.”
El Alfa regretted the time he missed with his grandmother because of his work commitments, but he also recognized her influence in fostering his inspiration and deep belief in God.
He said.
"I wish I had spent more time with her, but my work kept me from doing so,"
He ended the caption with:
