Tina passed away before Donatella was born.

More about Tina Versace
Tina, short for Fortunata, was the firstborn of Antonio and Francesca Versace and did not quite get to see the grand vision of the fashion empire that her siblings later transformed into reality. However, Tina's life was tragically cut short. According to reports, she was at the carnival when she fell down, which resulted in a tetanus infection. Around 24 hours later, she was dead.
Many reports state that her illness was not diagnosed properly, and if treated correctly, this loss could have been avoided. This tragedy changed the Versace family, leaving its mark on Donatella, Gianni, and Santo for years to come. Their mother, Francesca, a talented dressmaker, bore the greatest brunt of the pain from the loss of her daughter.

The Versace siblings: A legacy built on perseverance
The passing away of Tina Versace shook the family. But out of the terrible darkness emerged an equally powerful light as the siblings went on to build one of the most influential fashion empires in history.
Gianni’s flamboyant and extravagant personality made him Versace’s face and high fashion’s bold designer. After revolutionizing the clothing industry by making luxury goods accessible to celebrities and higher-class citizens, his life was cut short as he was murdered in 1997.
The oldest surviving sibling, Santo Versace, took over responsibility for the family business and headed the brand’s marketing and financials, making sure the company was stable and had lots of room for growth.
After Gianni's death, the creative lead position was taken over by the most well-known face of the brand, Donatella Versace. Her strategy allowed the brand to not only stay relevant but also grow by embracing the legacy and modern fashion.

Although high fashion was never Tina’s world to step into, the loss of her was one of the most important events in the family. This tragedy shaped the lives of her other siblings, who achieved greatness through grit and determination.
In a family full of extravagant personalities, Tina Versace is a reminder that even the boldest of empires have to overcome loss and pain.
