On the same day that American actor and comedian David Coulier welcomed his grandson into the world, he also received another piece of good news: he was finally cancer-free. In a report by Parade, he shared that his son Luc and daughter-in-law Alex welcomed their first child, a baby boy, on March 27.
Appearing on the April 18 podcast episode of ‘How Rude, Tanneritos!’, the 65-year-old Full House star shared that he’d won his battle with stage 3 non-Hodgkin lymphoma in late March.
“I got the good news the day the baby was born.”
Dave Coulier recalled that it was an amazing day.
The Story of Luc’s Parents: Dave Coulier and Jayne Modean
Dave Coulier had tied the knot with American model Jayne Modean. They were married to each other from 1990 to 1992 and share a son, Luc. In addition to her modeling career, Modean made several television appearances. She acted alongside Dave Coulier on Full House in 1990 and had roles in the soap opera Another World. She also appeared in 13 episodes of ABC’s Trauma Center in 1983 before the series was canceled.
Who is Dave Coulier’s son Luc?
In 1990, Dave Coulier and Modean welcomed their son Luc into the world. Luc flies for FedEx, pursuing a profession that his father, Dave, said stems from his deep-rooted love of flying. On his son's birthday week in 2020, Dave shared multiple images of them on Instagram. The post said
"So proud of our son, Luc who turns thirty this week. He’s always been surrounded with a love for aviation. I used to watch airplanes with him at Santa Monica airport and took him for his first flight when he was just a toddler. Now he’s living his dream as a pilot @fedex."
In his conversation with Parade, Dave explained that although he and his wife Melissa Coulier will be traveling back and forth to the Golden State for their grandparents' duties, he wants to be in his best shape for his grandson's visit.
"I have a lot to do. I built our home that I'm sitting in here, I went to contractor school, and it took me 17 months to build our home. So there's lots of work to do here on the exterior of the home. I want to get out my tractor and keep planting trees and beautifying our home space." he shared.
In an interview with Parade, the Michigan native shared that he had to lean on positivity as a tool for resilience. A positive outlook and the hope of spending time with his new grandson were his tools during the tough battle with cancer.
"I don't know how else to view this other than with a positive attitude, especially because I'm in a position where I can inspire others. A negative attitude doesn't inspire anybody. Positivity, though, can take you a long way." Dave Coulier shared.
He also gave credit to his wife, Melissa, for being his support during the ordeal. He shared that she
“took care of me. I’d have night sweats and she’d go, ‘We gotta change these sheets again.’ And, ‘Here’s a cold compress and here’s your food and here’s your drugs.’ And I mean, she micro-managed this in such a way that I will forever be grateful to her, the way she so valiantly plowed through this.”
“I learned how incredible my wife is. And I also learned just how much a positive attitude can help you plow through things.” He later added.
