Who is Damian Hurley? All about Elizabeth Hurley’s only son as he reacts to Billy Ray Cyrus romance

Damian Hurley seems to approve of his mother, Elizabeth Hurley and country star Billy Ray Cyrus’ romance. On April 20, Easter Sunday, Cyrus and Hurley jointly posted a picture of themselves on social media. In the picture, the two can be seen leaning over a wooden fence and expressing affection towards each other. While the post did not define the nature of their relationship, Hurley and Cyrus seemed comfortable while posing with each other.

Damian, Elizabeth Hurley’s son with her ex, Steve Bing, was born in 2002. He is both an actor and a model. Damian commented on the photograph not long after it was posted. He reacted with a celebration and heart emoji to his mother’s photograph.

Damian Hurley’s childhood explored

Damian Hurley was born in 2002 during Elizabeth Hurley's 18-month-long relationship with businessman Steve Bing. As per BBC, when Damian was born, Bing was not sure whether he was the father of Hurley’s baby, as, according to Bing, they were not in an exclusive relationship at the time. According to the BBC, the matter was taken to court, and the result of the DNA test, which was revealed in a London court, confirmed that Steve Bing was the father.

Bing had offered financial support to raise Damian after the result of the paternity test was revealed. According to The Guardian, Bing offered to pay £100,000 annually till the child would turn 18. Elizabeth Hurley, who at the time had split up with Bing, refused his offer. As per the same report, Hurley had issued a statement in which she shared that she had always made it clear that she did not need Bing’s money to raise their child.

Damian was raised by his mother, and they shifted to Gloucestershire when she married businessman Arun Nayar in 2007. As per People Magazine, the mother-son duo shifted again to Australia after Elizabeth Hurley got engaged to cricketer Shane Warne in 2011 after her divorce from Nayar.

Though his mother’s engagement with Warne lasted for only a couple of years, Damian became very close to Warne. According to Hurley, Warne was an important father figure for him. A report by People Magazine made note of Damian’s obituary post for Warne, who had passed away after a cardiac arrest in 2022. Damian had written,

“SW was a father figure to me for most of my formative years and was truly one the best men I've ever known. My heart is broken.”

Actor Hugh Grant, who dated Elizabeth Hurley for 13 years till 2000, is Damian Hurley’s godfather, as per People Magazine.

About Damian Hurley’s career

Damian Hurley shares facial features with his mother and has been described as her mirror image. A report by The Telegraph referred to him as Elizabeth Hurley’s doppelgänger.

Like his mother, Damian has chosen a career in acting and modeling. He made his acting debut at the age of 15 when he appeared in the TV series The Royals, a show that also stars Hurley. While speaking to People Magazine, Hurley shared her feelings about her son’s debut, saying,

“He’s been such a supporter of the show and indeed of me for his whole life and to have him actually be in costume, mic-ed up, doing his lines, I was proud.”

However, it was in 2019 that the teenager caught the attention of the fashion world when he featured in an ad campaign for makeup artist Pat McGrath’s new foundation range. The campaign, which was shot by legendary fashion photographer Steven Meisel, became instrumental in Damian’s modeling career.

Since then, he has been featured in fashion magazines like Vogue and GQ. Speaking about the moment when the teenager got the call for his first modeling gig, Damian told Vogue,

“When I was 17, I got a call saying that Steven Meisel wanted me in New York the next day to front a new campaign…I’d never modelled before, but in a moment of madness I agreed, flew out, did the shoot and made it back to school in time for my first class on Monday.”

Apart from acting and modeling, Damian Hurley has also directed a feature film. Hurley made his directorial debut with Strictly Confidential in 2024. The film also starred Elizabeth Hurley in the lead role.
