Former Dainty Kane member D. Woods opens up about her experience with Sean "Diddy" Combs as he faces more than two dozen lawsuits. The revelation adds to the increasing debate around power misuse in the industry.

Wanita Denise Woodgett opened up about her troubling experiences with Sean "Diddy" Combs, whom she once regarded as a "hero" of the music industry.

In an exclusive interview with ABC News, she spoke about her troubling experiences with him. This was the first time the 44-year-old singer talked about Diddy since he was arrested. All of this comes after Diddy was allegedly charged with multiple federal lawsuits, which include racketeering, coercion, and sex trafficking.

The group 'Danity Kane' was formed with the help of Diddy in 2005 on MTV's Making the Band.

“He was the creator of this group, and in many ways, that power dynamic affected us all”

Woods claimed that Diddy was manipulative; he used a combination of praise and criticism to maintain control. She also mentioned that Diddy had created a verbally abusive work environment. She added,

"He did it in different ways with all of us, you know, picking and prodding and just a way to chip and knock away, but then praise you,"

She mentions how her emotional health was suffering under Combs' management. She recalled times when she would be frightened and objectified. She said:

“Somebody constantly treating you like a piece of meat, only valuing you for your sex appeal. In some of the environments, it was even scary to be by yourself.”

When asked why she revealed all of this now, Woods responded that the time seemed perfect for her truth to be heard.

“It’s less about why now and more about why I couldn’t speak earlier

She went on to add:

“Not talking hasn’t changed anything either.”

When asked what she would say to Diddy if she met him now, she replied:

“I honestly do not know, but I don’t think you really have to say anything, as long as I’m holding my head up high and my shoulders back.”

Woods wasn't the only member of the band to speak out against Diddy. In 2024, another member of Dainty Kane, Dawn Richard, filed a federal lawsuit against Diddy, alleging he had verbally and sexually abused her for 10 years and claimed $3.5 million in unpaid wages and royalties.

Another member, Aubrey O'Day, has spoken about her experience, describing the negative experience with Diddy, claiming the emotional wounds as permanent. In an interview conducted in 2024, O'Day said,

"There's no vindication when you're a victim of someone. It doesn't go away."

Despite moving on to different ventures, the impact of Woods's tenure under Diddy's supervision is still felt. Even with the fame and controversy during her time with Danity Kane, she remains determined to define her career according to her standards.
