It was announced on November 14 that Craig Melvin is replacing Hoda Kotb on Today, a decision that goes into effect in January 2025. The news has drawn attention to his personal life, with many wondering about his wife, fellow broadcaster Lindsay Czarniak.

Melvin and Czarniak got married in 2011, according to People Magazine. On March 10, 2014, they welcomed a boy, Delano, and on November 5, 2016, their daughter, Sybil. In speaking about his wife on-air on Today, Craig Melvin said:

"I’m just so thankful for her. It’s a lot of long days and short nights, and she’s been there for me from the beginning.”

Who is Craig Melvin’s wife, Lindsay Czarniak? All about the family of four

Lindsay Czarniak is a sports anchor and reporter. She had a stint at Fox News, serving as a sideline reporter for several NFL matches. She also held roles at WRC-TV and ESPN. While she joined the latter in August 2011, she quit in 2017.

She is perhaps most known as the pit reporter, studio host for TNT’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, and co-host and reporter for The George Michael Sports Machine, a sports-related TV program. Furthermore, as a sports desk reporter for NBC Sports, she covered the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, China.

According to People Magazine, Craig Melvin and Lindsay Czarniak met in Washington, D.C., in 2008 while working together at WRC-TV. Per the outlet, the two took things slow, starting out as friends. However, within a couple of months, Melvin asked her out. At the same time, Czarniak was hesitant to start things up with a co-worker.

She told The Washington Post:

"That night when we met, there was something that clicked. And it wasn't necessarily that I knew, 'I have to be with this guy.' But it was like, 'I don't want to be with anyone else that I'd hung out with.' It felt like being with the person that really gets you and that you've known for a really, really long time."

The two tied the knot at the Church of the Holy City in Washington, D.C., on October 15, 2011. Per The Washington Post, all of their colleagues attended the wedding. Soon after, the two went to the Hay-Adams Hotel in an old Bentley for the festivities.

In speaking about their lives together, Czarniak told the outlet:

"We make it work and it's been very, very helpful to have someone who understands crazy hours."

While Czarniak’s job takes her across the world, she frequently touches base in Connecticut, where the family shares a home.

Lindsay Czarniak pens a heartfelt note to her husband

Craig Melvin’s wife took to Instagram on November 14, the day the news broke out, to congratulate her husband in a heartfelt statement:

"My heart is honestly bursting. Craig Melvin - I am so proud of you and so beyond grateful for the man you are. I almost announced the Today Show news on the intercom so the fellow passengers on my plane would know why I'm crying."

In her post, she reflected on her husband’s strength, the overwhelming emotions invoked within her when she heard of the announcement, and what a blessing his new role on Today will be.

In her post, she said that to see the dream of the “person you love” come true is a gift. She doted on Melvin for how he carried himself as a “father, husband, friend, son, brother, colleague, etc.”

She went on, reflecting on Melvin’s personality:

"You have worked so hard and you are the most talented person I know, but the way you make other people feel is everything. I felt that the first time we met on the anchor set in Washington, DC. You genuinely cared. That has never changed. I'm proud because the man so many Americans "wake up with" in the mornings truly is the same person we see at home. Warm, caring, curious, smart, funny, snacking on all the food being prepared :). I know this job is equal parts rewarding and demanding, but you always put your best foot forward even when you're tired. Coaching hoops, reading books, tackling kids during tickle wars... just hanging."

She ended the post with an “I love you” and shared that she’s excited for America now that they get to “hang” with Craig Melvin more. She also revealed that she penned the letter from a flight and jokingly added that she would ask the flight attendant if she could announce her husband’s news to the whole plane.

Craig Melvin will co-anchor alongside Savannah Guthrie early next year. On the show, he shared that he felt “excited and grateful,” as it meant “a lot to inherit” Kotb’s role. He also referred to her as “the heart of” the show.
