Hollywood star and filmmaker Clint Eastwood recently went through a devastating personal tragedy in the form of the death of his longtime girlfriend, Christina Sandera, in July 2024.

Sandera, who was 61 at the time of her death, died due to cardiac arrhythmia and coronary artery disease. According to the Mayo Clinic, Coronary artery disease sometimes leads to cardiac arrest, when the heart stops beating because of an abnormal heart rhythm.

Six months after her death, Clint Eastwood’s son Scott Eastwood gave an update on how his father is doing, describing the 94-year-old as a “survivor” and a “trouper.”

In a recent interview with People, Scott Eastwood spoke about his father stating that he was doing good. When asked about his father's resilience he said:

"It’s in our blood. You don't complain. You don't whine. You just do."

Scott attributed his father’s toughness to the principles imparted to him during his early years, explaining that Clint was raised during the Great Depression and experienced the hardships of World War II.

Christina Sandera met Clint Eastwood while she was working as a hostess at the Mission Ranch Hotel California in 2014. The property had been carefully restored by Eastwood himself in the late 1980s. According to People, Their romance was kept private for a long time, even as Sandera became a big part of Eastwood’s life.

Clint Eastwood responded with a heartfelt statement following her death, saying:

“Christina was a lovely, caring woman, and I will miss her very much."
