During Saturday Night Live's 50th anniversary celebration, Cecily Strong made a spectacular comeback, this time revealing a thrilling personal revelation. The 41-year-old comic, who gained notoriety for her 10 years on Saturday Night Live, walked the red carpet at 30 Rock on February 16, 2025, wearing a stylish black gown to flaunt her growing baby bulge.
Despite the fact that Cecily Strong has provided a wealth of information on her pregnancy journey, people still wonder who her fiancé is. She has kept her longtime companion Jack's complete identity and other private information private despite confirming their engagement. The proposal didn't exactly go as planned, but the pair, who had been dating for more than four years, got engaged in late 2023.
In a March 2024 interview on Late Night with Seth Meyers, Cecily Strong made her engagement public for the first time and described how she accidentally learned about the proposal. Strong claims that Jack had intended to surprise her, but the moment was ruined by a notification on his phone.
Strong recounted,
“One day he was like, ‘I’m so inundated with emails and texts, look at this. And he showed me his phone, and the first text was from a friend that said, ‘How did it go?! (Ring emoji).’"
Jack questioned after realizing what had just transpired,
“Did you see that?”
In response, Strong said,
“I could try very hard to lie, but…”
The surprise was shattered in an instant. Strong gladly accepted the proposal, and the pair enjoyed the moment despite the shocking disclosure.
Cecily Strong's pregnancy announcement and IVF journey
In November 2024, Cecily Strong posted an emotional Instagram post announcing her pregnancy for the first time. She disclosed that after a challenging reproductive journey, she became pregnant at the age of 40 using in-vitro fertilization (IVF). Referencing a 2021 SNL comedy in which she portrayed Goober the Clown, a character who underwent an abortion at the age of 23, she connected the statement to her prior experiences with reproductive healthcare.
Cecily Strong added,
“A couple years ago I did a piece on SNL as Goober the Clown who had an abortion the day before her 23rd birthday, I’m happy to report that same clown is now very happily pregnant from IVF at 40.”
Strong also voiced her worries about the political environment in the US, namely in relation to reproductive rights. She expressed her concerns about potential national abortion regulations by sharing a photo of herself wearing a blouse that stated,
"pregnant, pro-choice, and proud."
She commented,
"It’s kind of insane and scary to disclose all of this. But for me, it’s much scarier to think about what could happen after Tuesday’s election. I currently live in a state where I will be able to receive all the healthcare I may possibly need. "
she continued,
"But we won’t be safe anywhere in the US if there is [a] national ban like the one promised by Project 2025.”
Hilarious return to SNL
The highlight of Cecily Strong's Weekend Update appearance on SNL's star-studded 50th anniversary special was pregnancy. She returned as
"the girl you wish you hadn’t started a conversation with at a party,"
One of her most famous personas, who instantly pointed out her growing baby belly.
Co-anchor, Micheal Che, asked
“Notice something different about me?”
to which Strong's character said,
“Wow, you just assume I’m pregnant, just because I have a baby inside me?”
When it was revealed in the context of the sketch that the baby's father was none other than Weekend Update's notorious 'Drunk Uncle,' portrayed by Bobby Moynihan, the segment took an even more humorous turn.
Colin Jost, looking truly perplexed, asked,
“Drunk Uncle is going to be a dad?”
to which Moynihan's character was,
"Hey, if Alec Baldwin can do it."
Cecily Strong has decided to keep her romance mostly out of the public eye, despite her humorous public character. She has disclosed some information about her relationship with Jack, but she has never disclosed his full name, and the two have kept a low profile. According to reports, they started dating in 2019 and decided to go forward after four years of dating.
Cecily Strong is looking forward to being a mother while pursuing her acting and comedic careers since their kid is expected in the spring of 2025. Despite leaving Saturday Night Live in 2022, she is still regarded as one of the show's most cherished alumnae, and both fans and cast members were ecstatic when she returned for the anniversary special.
