Beyonce and Jay-Z’s daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, is the new fame in town for her feature film debut in Disney’s Mufasa: The Lion King. At twelve years old, Ivy Carter is set to voice Princess Kiara, the eldest daughter of Queen Nala.

Mufasa: The Lion King is directed by Oscar winner Barry Jenkins and written by Jeff Nathanson. It is a prequel to the 2019 live-action film The Lion King and will be released on December 20, 2024.

The movie explores the origin story of the lion king, voiced by Aaron Pierre, with Kelvin Harrison portraying Scar. Beyonce is the artist for Nala. Kiara’s father, King Simba, will also return, with actor and singer Donald Glover reprising the role.

According to USA Today, alongside Disney's reimagining of the 1994 classic, Beyoncé released The Lion King: The Gift in 2019, an album inspired by the movie. Blue Ivy featured on Beyoncé's hit track Brown Skin Girl from the album, which won a Grammy for Best Music Video, making her the second-youngest Grammy winner at just nine years old.

The song also earned her the Ashford & Simpson Songwriter's Award at the Soul Train Awards. Additionally, she got recognition for outstanding duo, group, or collaboration at the NAACP Image Awards in 2020.

In 2019, Beyoncé and Blue Ivy attended The Lion King premiere in Los Angeles, walking the red carpet together. Regarding her latest work in the movie, Beyonce shared an Instagram post saying,

“My gorgeous baby girl. This is your night. You worked hard and you did such a beautiful job as the voice of Kiara. Your family could not be prouder. Keep shining.”

Beyonce said Blue Ivy had a great taste in music and fashion

During an interview with GQ in September 2024, Beyonce revealed she did not like Blue Ivy on stage with her during the Renaissance World Tour. She said besides having good taste in music and fashion, Ivy was also an excellent actress. According to Beyonce,

“Blue is an artist. She has great taste in music and fashion. She is a fantastic editor, painter, and actress. She has been creating characters since she was three. She’s a natural, but I did not want Blue onstage. Blue wanted it for herself.”

The Crazy in Love singer added that Blue Ivy took it seriously and earned the position, which gave her immense fun. She explained that she organized her work schedule around her family, prioritizing touring during her children's school breaks. She likes the world with her family, exposing them to diverse languages, architecture, and lifestyles.

She noted that raising her three kids became more complex as they grew older and developed individual needs, interests, and social lives. She described her twins as a blessing and highlighted how parenting offered constant self-discovery, requiring prayer and patience.

Her children often visit her at the office after school, the studio, and dance rehearsals and they also picked up her choreography along the way.
