Tina Knowles, who recently revealed in her new book "Matriarch: A Memoir" that she has been quietly battling breast cancer for the past year, also opened up about her famous daughter, Beyoncé. Beyoncé, who dated Lyndall Locke before her relationship with Jay-Z, launched her brand Cécred right around the time her mother was diagnosed with Breast cancer, according to People Magazine.

Last year in July, Tina Knowles was diagnosed with breast cancer. In her interview with People Magazine, the author reinstates the importance of mammograms, adding that when she divulged the news to the two daughters, it was Beyonce who viewed it with hope and "took it well." She said:

"It's important not to slack on your mammograms. I struggled with whether I would share that journey [in the book] because I'm very private. But I decided to share it because I think it's a lot of lessons in it for other women. And I think as women, sometimes we get so busy and we get so wrapped up and running around, but you must go get your test. Because if I had not gotten my test early, I mean, I shudder to think what could have happened to me."

More about Beyonce's relationships, as Tina Knowles reveals new details

Tina Knowles, whose new book titled "Matriarch: A Memoir" was published on Tuesday, discusses a range of topics in her book. One of them is Beyonce's relationship with her then-boyfriend, now husband Jay Z. She writes that they had developed a good friendship by the early 2000s, and both of them confided in each other, as they shared a similar artistic vision. In the excerpts obtained by Daily Mail, Tina Knowles writes:

"Beyoncé had developed a friendship with [Jay Z], solely over the phone, [in the early 2000s] They provided good counsel to each other as they discussed the industry, each sharing a singular confidence in their artistic vision. As Beyoncé and Jay then kept up with each other in calls, the friendship deepened. She would tell me, "He’s just so nice."'

Before her relationship with Jay-Z, Beyoncé dated her high school sweetheart, Lyndall Locke, for eight years, until their breakup in 2001. In her book, although she does not mention Locke by name, it is alleged that she is referring to him when she recounts a time that the Texas Hold'Em singer was at a crossroads in life, and came to her for advice on whom to choose as her life partner. In her book, Tina Knowles writes:

"'Well, who do you like the most? Who do you enjoy talking to more?'I watched her think. It was Jay. Isn’t it humbling how love can begin with such a simple feeling? You like talking to someone over the phone. You’re 21 years old and you can’t know someday you will take that love to the stars, but it begins with such a small instinct.'

Talking about Beyoncé's relationship with Jay-Z, in her interview with People Magazine, Tina Knowles criticized the way the media handled and spread the false narrative that Beyoncé was apparently faking her pregnancy. Beyoncé would later give birth to daughter Blue Ivy. Tina Knowles said:

"It’s one of the most painful things for me, to know that people could be that disgusting. I deal with lies all the time. I’m dealing with lies now, that I’m having, like, an invisible zipper at my mouth. There’s always these crazy rumors that are out there and, people just get to lie, and they don’t have to suffer any consequences.”

In her book "Matriarch: A Memoir", Tina Knowles also takes fans on a unique journey as she writes about her family history and life growing up in Galveston, among other things.
