Who is Barbara Bush’s husband? All about actor Craig Coyne as former first daughter opens up about family

Barbara Pierce Bush, who is married to actor Craig Coyne, appeared on The Today Show's special segment, Today with Jenna and Friends, hosted by her sister, Jenna Bush Hager, to share details about her family.

During the interview, the former first daughter opened up to her twin sister when asked about her newest addition to her family. Bush and husband Craig Coyne welcomed their son on 4 August 2024.

"You’re a mom of two. Since the last time you were here, you had a baby boy.” asked Bush-Hager.

Barbara Bush replied to this, saying:

"He’s a big guy, he’s a very big guy. He’s 30 pounds. To put it in context, my 3-year-old is 32 pounds, so he is large and in charge."

Jenna joked, saying:

"Well, I know he’s big because he’s my nephew, but we don’t want to body shame!”

“No, he is perfectly proportionate and he’s here for the ride.” quipped Barbara.

Former First Lady Laura Bush also appeared through a video message, expressing her excitement at seeing the two sisters hosting the show. She also shared her anticipation for the big family reunion on 25 March, where the extended family will make an appearance on the show.

More about Craig Coyne, the husband of the former First Daughter

Craig Coyne was born in 1981 to Edward Coyne Jr. III and Darlene Coyne. According to People Magazine, he grew up in Atlanta and later studied at Vanderbilt University. He now works as an actor and screenwriter. He has acted in movies like The Snowtown Murders, Jarhead, Look at Me, and Unlovable.

Craig Coyne met Barbara Bush in 2017 after being set up on a blind date by mutual friends. He proposed to Bush in August 2018 while the couple visited her family at Kennebunkport during a vacation.

In a 2018 interview with People Magazine, Barbara revealed:

“My friend knew his friend, so it was very blind. It was a group first date, and they tried to give us our space but we were all seated at the same table. But it was so blind that I didn’t know what he looked like.

She continued :

And so I went up to two guys before him in the lobby, asking if they were him. And then, luckily, a really handsome guy walked in, and I thought, ‘Please, maybe this one will be him.’ And it was him. And so that was our first date, and he rolled with it.”

In an interview with People Magazine, shortly after the couple married, Barbara Bush revealed that she and Craig Coyne had been in a long-distance relationship for most of their time together.

"It’s just been a very sweet romance. And we’ve been long-distance for most of it — he’s been in LA and I’ve been in New York — but we’ve gotten to spend a lot of time together.”

The couple, who have kept their relationship out of the spotlight, married on 7 October 2018, in a private ceremony attended by twenty family members.

"We’ve been excited to do such a small wedding with just our family,” said Barabara.

Soon after the wedding, Craig Coyne moved to New York to be closer to Barbara, as the couple set up their home there.

“Then it was fun, because my husband had been living in L.A. for the past 15 years and I was in New York, so he moved to New York the week we got married, which was very generous and sweet of him to move to where I was."

According to People Magazine, the couple had a larger wedding six months later in Texas, which was attended by both of their extended families.

Barbara Bush and Craig Coyne welcomed their first child, a daughter, Cora, in September 2021. In August last year, the couple welcomed their second child, Edward Finn Coyne.

According to People Magazine, Craig Coyne and Barbara Bush's wedding was rushed so that her ailing grandfather, former President H.W. Bush, could attend, a decision she made after the sudden passing of her grandmother, former First Lady Barbara Bush, in April of 2018.
