YouTubers B. Lou aka Bishop Louie and Zias aka Zik Asiegbu seem to have a good run on the video-sharing platform. Their YouTube channel is at risk of being deleted since their college student IDs are on the verge of being discontinued.
Zias took to X on December 1, 2024, where he tagged TeamYouTube to point out that his alma mater was deleting all the alumni student emails. His YouTube channel was linked to the same email ID and hence could get deleted. He wrote,
“@TeamYouTube my old university is deleting all alumni emails tmrw and my youtube account is associated to it, which means it'll get deleted too. I tried to change the email but its not letting me since its a student email and I'm not an admin in the google workspace. Is there any other solution? Pls help.”
YouTube replied to his post suggesting he reach out to the administrator for help. B. Lou also shared a post on X on the same day where he wrote that the channel would get deleted. If this happened, then Zias would lose five million subscribers.
The two YouTubers are natives of Tulsa who transitioned from playing football at TU to creating content on YouTube and posting videos regularly. Their freestyling and humor have earned them national recognition and a busy travel schedule. Their success has taken them to cities like Los Angeles, Toronto, and Houston for collaborations with producers.
B. Lou and Zias perceived YouTube as a fun activity and not a job
According to Newson6, B. Lou shared that he often spent time at his friend's house gaming when an idea sparked. Zias explained how his desire to start a channel led to their collaboration, which quickly resonated with viewers. The duo's camaraderie and carefree approach made their audience feel like they were part of the experience.
Their freestyling sessions, often spontaneous during gaming, became a signature element of their content. B. Lou described their dynamic as energetic and uniquely funny, with each bringing their humor to the table. For him, creating music is about expressing feelings and having fun, while Zik emphasized that their venture was never about work, it was something they genuinely enjoyed doing.
The recent predicament regarding their fate on the platform has drawn various reactions from netizens. A particular X user asked why Zias created the channel using their student ID instead of a separate email. He responded by saying that the student's email ID was safe. Zias wrote,
“Idk I felt like university email is secure and When I graduated at the time, alumnis got to keep their emails for personal use. Then 8ys ltr they changed it and said they were deleting all alumni emails. But I didn't know until 2days ago.”
Other X users criticised YouTube for not providing the right help to protect the channel while others suggested possible solutions to salvage the channels. Meanwhile, some users called their action a ‘rookie’ move.
