During Young Thug's May 2022 arrest, police seized the rapper's possessions including a 2022 Chevrolet Corvette, a 2022 Porsche 911, two Mercedes-Benz AMG GTs, expensive jewelry, firearms, and $149,426 in cash.

As per reports by WSB-TV Atlanta, the rapper's attorneys are now seeking the return of the seized items during the YSL raid. A civil hearing regarding the seized possessions was scheduled to take place on February 21 but was canceled, as per the judge's staff.

Young Thug, Gunna, and 26 other affiliates of Thugger's YSL collective were arrested in a RICO case in Georgia on May 9, 2022. The group was accused of racketeering, murder, armed robbery, and participation in criminal street gang activity. They initially pleaded not guilty but later, Thug with the other five codefendents took the case trial, with everyone else taking the plea deal.

In May 2022, Fulton County indicted 28 individuals including Young Thug of several charges including racketeering, street gang activity, and others. Thug was accused of leading the gang and was arrested. In the same month, the county held a press conference stating that YSL has been involved in criminal activities since 2012 and added that song lyrics, social media posts, and music videos will be used as evidence.

As a response, in January 2023, Jay-Z along with other artists like Meek Mill, Kelly Rowland, and Killer Mike backed a proposed bill in New York that advocated limiting the use of rap lyrics as evidence in criminal cases.

In June 2022, the court denied the bond for the rapper stating that he poses a "significant" flight risk and Thug remains in Fulton County Jail.

In August 2022, Fulton County issued a new indictment against Thug including several new charges related to drugs and firearms. In December 2022, Gunna, who was named in the indictment was released from jail after accepting an Alford plea.

A year later, in November 2024, Young Thug's trial began with the number of original defendants reduced from 28 to 6. Prosecutors alleged that YSL, short for Young Stoner Life Records, is not just a music label but a criminal street gang.

Thug was freed from prison after he took the guilty plea in October 2024 after reversing his original 2022 not-guilty plea and admitting his involvement in criminal street gang activity.

Thug's trial is still in progress, with the rapper facing up to 20 years if convicted. Thug's YSL RICO case gained attention as Georgia's longest-running criminal trial with the jury selection itself dragging on for over a year.
