Late NBA star Kobe Bryant is all set to be honored with a statue in the National Garden of American Heroes. US President Donald Trump recently announced the list of US heroes whose statues will be installed, especially those of color, during a Black History Month ceremony at the White House.

While he has already signed an executive order, many wonder where this garden is.

Donald Trump, who is currently serving as the president of the United States for the second time has again proposed the idea of the national sculpture garden. He aims to honor all well-known people from all walks of life who have etched their names in American history.

National Parks Traveler noted that it is currently unclear where the park will be located. However, Fox News reported that the garden might be located on the grounds of the National Mall in Washington, D.C.

"I have signed an executive order to resume the process of creating a new National Park full of statues of the greatest Americans who ever lived," per White House at a gathering of religious leaders.

The President of the US claimed that the park would be completed as soon as possible. It will be a part of the celebration in July 2026 as the nation marks the 250th anniversary of its foundation. Trump will himself serve as the project's chair.

According to The Hill, Trump further mentioned how the final site of the project is currently being finalized:

"We’re picking the final sites now. It’s between various states that want it very badly. We’ll honor hundreds of our greatest Americans to ever live, including countless Black American icons."

He then assured citizens that they would "produce some of the most beautiful works of art in the form of a statue for men like Frederick Douglass, Booker T. Washington, and Jackie Robinson." Calling Robinson a "great athlete," Trump also confirmed that Martin Luther King Jr. and Kobe Bryant's statues would be unveiled in the garden.

Trump also announced that some more civil rights leaders, including Harriet Tubman, Billie Holiday, Rosa Parks, Aretha Franklin, Frederick Douglass, and Coretta Scott King, would also be honored with their statues.

How did Kobe Bryant pass away?

The morning of January 26, 2020, was a shocking one for basketball fans across the globe. A helicopter, which was flying Kobe Bryant with eight other people crashed into a California hillside. Among the other eight passengers, Kobe Bryant's daughter Gianna also lost her life.

After an examination by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner, it was ruled that he died from blunt force trauma.

A thorough investigation of the case also revealed the pilot could have avoided the crash. The weather conditions in the area that morning resulted in poor visibility. Moreover, due to such weather conditions, the pilot had to take an alternate route but did not. These poor decisions led to the helicopter's crash. Moreover, the pilot believed the flight was climbing while descending down the hillside.
