Where did Ja Rule and Aisha Atkins meet? Relationship timeline explored as couple celebrate 24 years of marriage

Singer and rapper Ja Rule and his wife Aisha Atkins recently celebrated their 24th wedding anniversary. The couple, who have been together for the majority of years of their lives, also ensure to mark their special milestones. On the occasion of their anniversary, both Rule and Atkins took to their social media handles to share their special photos.

Besides the many years that they have lived together, the couple's beginning of their romantic life was also special. According to Essence.com, Ja Rule and Aisha met in high school. His now-wife was only 14 years old back then. She was a new girl in the school, and the rapper spotted her while getting off the bus.

However, it was Aisha who tried to build a friendship with him. He said,

"She was cute, but she tried to play me at first."

"Then she realized I was one of the cool guys at school, and got with the program," the Mesmerize singer added.

After dating for several years and welcoming two kids, the couple tied the knot on April 14, 2001, in a gangster-themed ceremony. Describing the wedding in an interview with Blender, Ja Rule said that it was a gigantic one with 800 guests.

"We did it '40s-style gangster. We had 800 people. It was like mafia weddings in the movies." He added how it was not a traditional one with them walking "down the aisle to the Godfather theme, but we had our tuxes and tails and cigars and a lot of champagne."

Ja Rule and Aisha Atkins both took to their respective Instagram handles to wish one another on their special day. The rapper shared a picture of himself and his wife twinning in black outfits with glittery glasses. Sharing the picture, he mentioned how he feels "amazing" to have had the opportunity to tie the knot with the love of his life.

"Happy anniversary my love 24 years of marriage is an amazing feeling when it’s with the one you love…"

On the other hand, Atkins took a trip back memory lane and dug out a picture of her wedding with Ja Rule. In the photo, she could be seen wearing a white wedding gown, while the rapper donned a matching outfit. They stood facing each other, with Rule holding Aisha's face close to him.

Via the caption, Atkins penned a heartwarming message for her husband of 24 years.

"Wishing my husband/ bff a happy 24-year anniversary. I’m so grateful for all the memories and love we shared together over these years! Here’s to the rest of our lives together, love you with all my heart!"

The two are parents to their three children: Brittney, Jeffrey, and Jordan. While they have come a long way in their lives as a married couple, they have also faced some bumps along the way.

In 2011, Ja Rule was sentenced to 28 months in prison for failing to pay £710,000 (more than $941,000) in taxes. Moreover, he went to jail for two years for illegal possession of a semi-automatic handgun. After his release from prison in 2013, Aisha Atkins shared her experience on the MTV show Married Life After Prison.

There were also allegations that Ja Rule had an affair with his cellmate mate but he denied them all.
