Irv Gotti's family is expecting a turnout of thousands at his funeral, scheduled for February 18 in Jamaica, Queens.
The founder of Murder Inc. Records died at the age of 54 on February 5, days after he suffered an intense stroke. AllHipHop has reported that the funeral will be held at the Greater Allen A.M.E. Cathedral, the same borough from which Gotti began his career as “DJ Irv.”

The Greater Allen A.M.E. Cathedral can accommodate up to 2,500 people, which is apt for the number of attendees expected to flock in for the funeral. Irv Gotti's foundation played a huge role in kickstarting the careers of major celebrities like Ja Rule, Ashanti, Jay-Z, DMX, Ruff Ryders, and many more.
He leaves behind his children Angie, Sonny, and Jonathan Wilson; his brother, Chris Gotti, who founded Murder Inc. alongside him, his mother Nee Nee Lorenzo; and sisters Tina and Angie.
Not long after he died, his family took to Instagram to pen a heartfelt statement:
“Our dad was an incredible man, a true visionary who transformed the Hip-Hop industry and changed the game for artists and fans alike. His passion for music and dedication to his craft inspired many, and his contributions will continue to influence future generations,” the family said. “As we navigate this difficult time, we kindly ask for privacy while we grieve the loss of our dad, son, brother, uncle, and friend. We take comfort in knowing that his spirit will live on through his music and the love he shared with all of us.”
Baby singer Ashanti also took to Instagram days after his death was confirmed to reflect on the legacy Irv Gotti leaves behind:
"I can’t believe things ended like this….and it makes me so sad…" Ashanti began her caption. "We weren’t on the best terms the past few years but as I’ve always said, through our ups and downs I will forever be grateful for everything that you’ve done for me," she continued. "We made history and that will remain infinite.. I’ve always respected your musical genius and ability to push me to be my best.. All the greatness and positive things that came, far outweigh the dark and negative times. I have always prayed for you to find peace. Sending love and prayers to the entire family. Rest well. Rest in Peace Irv 🙏🏽🕊️"
Irv Gotti had been battling diabetes for years, AllHipHop reports, and per the outlet, he had been hit with another stroke just seven months before he met his demise.
