Riverdale star Vanessa Morgan has announced that she will be tying the knot with her Canadian boyfriend James Karnik. In a carousel of images uploaded on Instagram, Morgan showed off her blingy ring and moments from the proposal. The caption of the post read:
"Merry Christmas Eve from me and my fiancé."
Vanessa Morgan and professional basketball player James Karnik began seeing each other in 2022, Us Weekly reports. Morgan was earlier married to Michael Kopech, father of her son. Six months into the marriage, in July 2020, Morgan had announced her pregnancy, though she confirmed they would be parting ways not long after.

Vanessa Morgan uploaded another image on Instagram where Morgan is seen towering over her in the background, as she sticks her tongue out showing off the diamond ring that sits on her manicured hands. She penned this caption with the picture:
"This relationship is a testimony to the blessings God brings when you fully surrender and trust in his perfect timing. I’m so grateful to get to experience this kind of love in this lifetime. Lysm."
Per Page Six, Karnik proposed to Morgan at Glow Langley in Canada on December 21. The "Custom Secret Butterfly Garden Ring" he gifted her is a 4.64-carat oval-shaped engagement ring from Brilliant Earth. The outlet reports that the 14K rose gold band includes blue marquise-cut diamonds that look like butterflies.
Speaking with People magazine, Morgan reflected on their proposal:
"James knows how much I love Christmas, especially all the festive lights, so he took me to the Langley Glow Light Festival. We were walking around, and I honestly thought he was going to propose on Christmas morning, so it came as a complete shock when it happened."
People reports that Karnik had a professional photographer follow them around undercover, clad in an all-black outfit with a baseball cap.
Morgan went on to say:
"James had just injured his foot — we weren't sure if it was a break or a sprain at the time, but he was on crutches. I asked him if he was sure he wanted to walk around on crutches, and he said, 'For you, I’ll do it. I know how much you love this.' It seemed a little suspicious, but I didn’t think much of it." She added, "Then, in the middle of all the lights and people, James put down his crutches to 'adjust his shoe,' and that’s when I started to suspect something was up. He dropped his crutches, got down on one knee, and asked me to marry him."
Vanessa Morgan describes the ring as "stunning" and "the best Christmas present ever," while Karnik says he had "a great experience" working with the company to design the ring. He revealed that the "final result created a truly unique ring based on what Vanessa loves, something she will treasure and be very special to her.”
