This year might have bestowed us with many gifts, but there is no better present than getting Spotify Wrapped 2024. According to the latest updates, the much-awaited yearly wrap-up has not been released yet, but users are advised to ensure that the music app is updated, as the list of most-played songs can be out any minute.

Spotify Wrapped gives a glimpse into a user's top songs, artists, and genres throughout the year, and encourages them to share on social media. It also creates a playlist of their 100 most-streamed songs and provides interesting insights, such as their music aura or whether they rank among the top 1% of an artist’s listeners.

On October 31, 2024, X account Spotify News shared a post mentioning that the counting process did not stop until October 2024. The Austin American Statesman has reported that the tracking for data from the listeners has not been completed yet as the process will continue throughout November 2024.

Data for the Wrapped campaign is collected from January 1, every year. However, users will get notification alerts on the app once it is available to view.

As per Sussex World, in 2023, the musical wrap-up was released on November 30. Previous trends also show that the music-sharing giant tends to release Wrapped on a Thursday during the last week of November or the first week of December. For this year, the Spotify Wrapped might reportedly be released on November 28, 2024.

The music-sharing company has also reminded artists to submit clips expressing gratitude to their fans, the deadline for which was November 20, 2024.

The first Spotify Wrapped was released in 2016

The company first released its Wrapped feature in 2016. As mentioned, once the wrap-up for 2024 is released, it will appear on the app. If it doesn’t, users can visit the official website or check the ‘Home’ section to get access.

In 2019, the music streaming service introduced a special feature highlighting users' past decade of music, evoking nostalgia once sparked by vinyl records or CDs in earlier times.

Spotify’s global head of consumer and product marketing, June Sauvaget, noted that the feature generated a sense of FOMO, encouraging new users to join which ignited a cycle of engagement marketing to attract new users. Sharing their annual music round-ups with friends, family, and online communities gave users a kind of dopamine boost.

Alex Bodman, Spotify’s vice president and global executive creative director, added that the campaign unintentionally offered digital music fans a way to revisit forgotten favorites, akin to how physical media once triggered such memories.

In 2023, the most-streamed tracks globally included Miley Cyrus’s Flowers, SZA’s Kill Bill, Harry Styles’s As It Was, Jung Kook’s Seven, and Peso Pluma and Eslabon Armado’s Ella Baila Sola.

Taylor Swift was the most-streamed artist of the year and had more than 26.1 billion global streams. Meanwhile, Bad Bunny’s Un Verano Sin Ti was the most-streamed album of 2023. In the podcast category, The Joe Rogan Experience was the top choice among listeners, while Call Her Daddy stood second.
