Drake is currently in Australia and New Zealand, on his Anita Max Win Tour. Since the shows kicked off, the Canadian rapper has been dropping subtle information and updates to fans, the biggest bombshell so far being an announcement about his upcoming solo album.

Drake’s Next Solo Drop

While on stage Drake, broke out into an honest conversation with his fans. He said:

“Eventually when the time is right, Drizzy Drake alone by himself is gonna have to have a one-on-one talk to y’all. When the time is right, I’ll be back with another album — a one-on-one conversation with y’all that you need to hear.”

Whenever Drake drops a new project, it’s noteworthy. What makes this announcement truly significant is twofold. First, the rapper's open nature that we have seen for over a tumultuous year now, highlighted especially by his beef with Kendrick Lamar. The overall consensus on the matter is that he lost dramatically. In the wake of this, it would be priceless to hear what he’s been thinking amidst all the chaos, and how he plans to move forward.

The second aspect is equally interesting. Drake is known to be selective with his words on the public stage, and what truly stands out here are his words, “a one-on-one conversation.” This could potentially signify that the album will have no featuring artists or guest appearances, something that Drake has never done in his career dating back to his debut mixtape, So Far Gone. This, of course, is speculation for now, as nothing has been officially confirmed.

Drake and PartyNextDoor's V-Day surprise for fans

Meanwhile, on February 3, Drake announced that his $ome $*xy $ongs 4 U joint project with PartyNextDoor is scheduled for launch on February 14, 2025, according to Billboard. The announcement came a day after Kendrick Lamar won five Grammys the night before, for his diss track, Not like us, reportedly aimed at Drake.

$ome $*xy $ongs 4 U continues Drake's long-time musical partnership with Canadian singer and songwriter, PartyNextDoor. The project was in the pipeline for some time now, with the pair dropping the first hints of the project in August 2024. During a surprise appearance at PartyNextDoor’s Toronto show, Drizzy addressed the audience directly, saying:

“I know all you girls are outside, and when it gets a little chilly, PARTYNEXTDOOR and Drake album will be right there for you.”

The tracklist remains a mystery at the time of publishing, but both artists are steadily dropping hints about what we can expect. $ome $*xy $ongs 4 U was first intended to have a November 2024 release but was subsequently delayed for unknown reasons.
