Loudwire reported that the musician was last contacted by his colleagues at the ambulette company around 8:00 am. His co-workers became worried when he missed several scheduled pickups and stopped responding to calls. Using GPS, a colleague tracked down his vehicle and discovered the front door window had been smashed. Inside, they found him lying face down in the back of the vehicle.

The vehicle in which his body was found was a type of special carrier that transported specially-abled people. Police suggested that it was abandoned for some time. The company was cooperating with the police in investigating P. Fluid’s death.

Forest was one of the pioneering musicians of the Black Rock movement of the 1980s. P. Fluid founded 24-7 Spyz in 1986, but it became popular in the 1990s for blending heavy metal, reggae, and hard rock. He contributed to three of the band’s albums: Harder Than You (1989), Gumbo Millennium (1990), and Temporarily Disconnected (1995).

Black Rock Coalition released a statement following P. Fluid’s death

P. Fluid was reportedly the co-founder of the Black Rock Coalition, a New York-based artists’ collective and nonprofit established in 1985. After his death, the coalition shared a statement on Facebook, reminiscing about his time and work. The post read:

“The Black Rock Coalition (BRC) is stunned, confused, heartbroken and enraged upon hearing of Peter “P. Fluid” Forrest’s violent murder. We extend our most heartfelt sorrow and condolences to P Fluid’s family, the surviving members of 24-7 Spyz (Jimi Hazel and Rick Skatore), and our extended family of Black Rock Coalition members who knew the dynamic singer and frontman.”

The post clarified that he was not the founding member of BRC and was not involved in its operations. However, the post described P. Fluid as an incredibly creative, charismatic, and energetic frontman whose stage presence and personality were truly exceptional.

His impact helped establish 24-7 Spyz as a standout band in rock music and a key member of the Black Rock Coalition community. P. Fluid first announced he was leaving the band in 1990 during a performance opening for Jane’s Addiction but returned briefly to work on Temporarily Disconnected.

Beyond 24-7 Spyz, he participated in various short-term projects, including a supergroup with Corey Glover of Living Colour and Angelo Moore of Fishbone. In the 2010s, Forrest reemerged with a goth rock band called BlkVampires, where he performed in white makeup.
