Cornell “Nelly” Haynes Jr. recently opened up about his early-2000s appearance on MTV Cribs, calling it “the worst thing” he did.

The Longest Yard actor was a guest star on Season 4 of the documentary show about celebrity houses. According to TheTVDB, the second episode, featuring Haynes Jr., premiered on January 16, 2002, and provided an inside look at the actor-rapper’s residence.

During his appearance on Cribs, Nelly welcomed the MTV team to his lakefront property in St. Louis, Missouri. The rapper-singer showed the team around his house, which has four bedrooms, five bathrooms, and a boat deck. In the episode, viewers saw the kitchen, TV room, living room, outside pool, and glimpses of his cars.

After the premiere, Cribs also led Nelly to sell his lakefront St. Louis house. In June 2010, he sold the “2,679 sq ft ranch style home” for $740,158.

Cornell Haynes Jr. recently appeared on The Cruz Show and talked about the airing of his Cribs episode. Nelly admitted that his decision to feature on the MTV show backfired, ultimately forcing him to move out of his St. Louis property. He told the hosts that his Cribs episode was real and further explained,

“I sold it [the house]. I sold… I had to get rid of it. It was the worst thing I did – Being on MTV Cribs.”

Haynes Jr. mentioned that the show seemingly leaked his address,

“They [MTV Cribs] showed a plate because I had my name engraved on it.”

He talked about fans showing up at his property unannounced,

“When I did it, there was no gate on the house, and people were pulling their boats up to the dock. My mom is out by the pool, and a motherf***** will pull their boat up to the dock, walk up the dock, and y’all don’t know my mom, but my mom is off the chain.

Nelly concluded,

“So yeah, I had to…we moved, we got gates and shit after that.”

In 2013, the actor-rapper appeared on Hot 107.9 (Hot Spot ATL), blaming Cribs for getting a stalker. He recalled,

“I have one drive all the way from Houston, Texas, with a son in the car and swore up and down that was my… That was my son. Yeah, drove all the way from… and this was early. This was like 2000[s]... Maybe 2003. And the boy was 17.”

Nelly added,

“She cased out the house first. She called the office. You know, she called the office for a couple of weeks… Found out where I stayed at. And actually, Cribs kind of helped them to… The show Cribs… She kind of knew what the house looked like.”

Haynes Jr. proclaimed that after the incident, he “swore” never to put his house in the public eye.
