NBA YoungBoy, whose real name is Kentrell Gaulden, was sentenced to prison on December 11, 2024, for 23 months. He pleaded guilty to possessing weapons as a convicted felon. He was also fined $200,000 and given a five-year probationary term as part of a larger plea agreement.

He has also entered a guilty plea to ten state offenses as part of the federal plea deal, and he was given a term of time served along with a $25,000 fine.

Authorities said that YoungBoy tried to get prescription drugs by pretending to be a doctor during a raid at his Huntsville, Utah, home in April 2024, one of several episodes that led to the case. Law enforcers discovered a Sig Sauer 9mm semi-automatic handgun in his possession during the operation.

He separately acknowledged possessing a Masterpiece Arms MPA30T 9mm handgun and a Glock 21.45-caliber pistol, which he had while filming a music video in Baton Rouge.

Gaulden's statement, made public prior to the plea deal, stated that he had previously been found guilty of aggravated assault with a firearm in Louisiana.

Before his sentence was passed down, NBA YoungBoy apologized to everyone, including his family and the court. He said,

“I let my situation get the best of me. I take full responsibility.”

To which Judge Nielsen stressed that the rapper would need to

"walk the straight and narrow"

after being released and adhere to court-mandated mental health and drug addiction assessments.

NBA YoungBoy's Alleged Prison Altercation

In an Instagram Live session, Birdman's brother, Terrance 'Gangsta' Williams, disclosed that YoungBoy had knocked out another prisoner who allegedly yelled "OTF" at the sight of him, a reference to Lil Durk's Only the Family crew.

NBA YoungBoy and Lil Durk have had a long-running beef since 2021, when Durk's close friend King Von was murdered. Since then, the conflict has been openly shown through social media taunts, diss tracks, and growing hostilities between their two crews.

Though it is unclear whether the convict had any actual relationship with OTF, Williams asserted that the rapper,

“stood on business”

by going after the prisoner who allegedly shouted "OTF" at him.

As a result of the altercation, he was sent to solitary confinement. Reports, however, suggest that this altercation has not affected his planned release date, which is still July 27, 2025.
