According to Bobby Shmurda, it was Jay-Z's Roc Nation that was behind the claims that Diddy and Meek Mill were intimate with each other. Meek Mill left Roc Nation in July 2022 following internal disputes, and according to Shmurda, that was reason enough for Roc Nation to kickstart a smear campaign.
He said, during a recent interview with The Danza Project,

“I’ma tell you what’s going on with Meek. I left the team that Meek was on. Meek left that team. [If] you leave that team, they come for you. It’s like a relationship with these labels. It’s like leaving a girl with a lot of power. She’s gonna try to make your life a living hell. She’s like, ‘We own the internets, we’re gonna spread all the rumors about you. I’m gonna pay for 3,000 comments making jokes.’”
Meek Mill says he'll give $100,000 to anyone who produces evidence he slept with Diddy
Back in July 2022, Meek Mill took to Twitter to clear the air surrounding his departure.
"All I seen today was meek and roc part ways …I’m personally handling my own business so I can take risk and grow ..we came to that agreement together..I have a label deal with roc for my artist and I got reform super tied with them and many other investments wit jigga."
He clarified that he is still a part of the larger Roc Nation company and that he maintains his roles in the label deal for his Dreamchasers imprint, as well as in Reform Alliance.
The latter is a non-profit organization he co-founded with Jay-Z, one that fights to eradicate unjust sentencing laws in the nation. He also clarified that he is actively engaged in "many other investments" with "Jigga," a.k.a. Hov.
In a follow-up tweet, the rapper elucidated:
"And roc nation is my family don’t mix my post aimed at Atlantic mixed up with roc or MMG …they ain’t stop nothing I’m doing we made about a 100m together des mike and Hov saved my life b4 And put a lot of energy into it I’m not behind on my favors in life wit my people I’m good."
Notably, in the past, the rapper has expressed his frustration with his label, Atlantic Records, on multiple occasions. He tweeted back in February 2022,
"They didn’t put nothing into expensive pain and then said I can’t drop another project for 9 months at the end of my contract after I made them 100’s of millions ….. how would can anybody survive that … most rappers can’t speak because they depend on these companies “ I don’t”."
He also blamed the label for plunging his relationship with multi-platinum rapper Roddy Ricch onto the rocks in another tweet, despite having made them "100’s of millions." According to Meek Mill, "that label separated" them "instantly when the millions came in from him.”
The rumors of Meek Mill and Diddy's relationship stem from a lawsuit Rodney "Lil Rod" Jones filed against the former based on sexual assault. According to Lil Rod, Diddy once told him he engaged in intimacy with "a Philadelphia rapper who dated Nicki Minaj.”
However, Meek has vehemently refuted such allegations. This September, he offered to award $100,000 to anyone who produced evidence to back these claims.
"I wanna hire an investigative team 100k cash to find out every specific detail involving meek mill name to ‘Diddy’ Case…. I also want them to look at who is powering the media involving ‘meek’ anything to do with buddy! ‘Something not right.’”
During the interview with The Danza Project, Bobby Shmurda claimed that he, too, was the target of a similar smear campaign. According to him, he's "not even mad" that he was called gay, it was the "n-ggas that believe it” that pissed him off.
