Kevin Costner’s ex-wife, Christine Baumgartner, is reportedly ready to tie the knot with her boyfriend of over a year, Josh Connor.
The latter, a former friend of Costner, proposed to Baumgartner on January 26, the New York Post has reported. The proposal comes on the heels of Kevin Costner and Christine Baumgartner's divorce, which was finalized just a year ago.
Christine Baumgartner, 50, and Kevin Costner, 70, had been married for nearly two decades before they decided to part ways. The former cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for their split.
Their divorce proceedings involved spats over child and spousal support, though Baumgartner was ultimately awarded $63,209 per month in child support. She was also given a $1.5 million lump sum owing to their prenuptial agreement.
By May 2023, they finalized their divorce, and within months, the former struck up a romance with her now soon-to-be husband. The former couple share three children: Cayden, 17, Hayes, 15, and Grace, 14.
Everything to know about Christine Baumgartner and Kevin Costner's relationship: Accusations of philandering, concealed relationships, and more
People Magazine has reported that Christine Baumgartner met Josh Connor during an intimate dinner in Santa Barbara, with the beach empty and a romantic setting surrounding the two. A source told the outlet:
"It was about to rain, so almost no one else was on the beach when Josh got down on one knee."
Friends and family close to the pair were reportedly pleased to hear of the proposal, with the insider adding that "They spent Christmas in New York together last month, where it all began. They are both over the moon and excited for their future together.”
Josh Connor, a financier, was first spotted with Christine Baumgartner back in July 2023 when the two were on a trip to Hawaii. Just a month later, amid rumors that the two were a pair, Baumgartner testified in court during her divorce proceedings that she and her now fiance were just friends.
During court, Costner also questioned Baumgartner's faithfulness to their union after she requested access to his financial documents. According to court documents obtained by Us Weekly in August 2023:
“Respondent has no responsive documents for ‘extramarital romantic relationships’ in which he engaged because he engaged in none." Costner’s attorneys also noted that the actor “does not know for a fact if [Christine] engaged in any ‘extramarital romantic relationships’ before separation and, if so, whether she spent any of his money or charged any expenses in furtherance of her affair(s) on credit cards he paid.”
Baumgartner and Connor's relationship was only confirmed this January 2024, when the former was seen dropping off her partner at his home. Not long after news of the two broke out, a source close to Kevin Costner revealed that he had been suspicious of a romance between the two for a long time:
"Kevin had strong suspicions that something was going on between Christine and Josh,” an insider said in January 2024. “Their close [bond] was a real elephant in the room.”
However, sources close to Christine Baumgartner insisted that the two were just friends for a long time and that their romance blossomed “relatively recently.”
“Christine doesn’t think Kevin has anything to complain about,” the source explained. “Josh has been Christine’s rock throughout the divorce ordeal. If Kevin has a problem with that, that’s on him.”
At the time of writing, it remains unknown just when Christine Baumgartner and her partner, Josh Connor, plan on tying the knot.
