Kathy Griffin recently underwent a hysterectomy, she announced via her Instagram handle. The comedian-actress shared a post revealing that the procedure was for her precancerous condition,
“Happy Monday! I had a hysterectomy on Friday, that's right they took out the uterus, the fallopian tubes & the ovaries. Pre-cancerous, blah blah blah.”
She also captioned her post with a remark on reality TV shows and her surgery,

Kathy Griffin has battled with cancer in the past. In August 2021, the Fashion Police host announced that she was diagnosed with lung cancer and was scheduled to undergo surgery to remove her left lung. Kathy posted on X (formerly Twitter),
“I’ve got to tell you guys something. I have cancer. I’m about to go into surgery to have half of my left lung removed. Yes, I have lung cancer even though I’ve never smoked!”
She further wrote about doctors being optimistic as it was “stage one and contained to” her left lung. Kathy Griffin added,
“Hopefully no chemo or radiation after this and I should have normal function with my breathing. I should be up and running around as usual in a month or less. It’s been a helluva 4 years, trying to get back to work, making you guys laugh and entertaining you, but I’m gonna be just fine.”
Kathy Griffin confirmed that she was cancer-free in December 2021
After revealing her lung cancer diagnosis and surgery Griffin had in August 2021, she provided a positive update after a few months. In December, the Hollywood Squares panelist appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live and confirmed that she was cancer-free. Kathy Griffin told the host,
“I’m cancer-free. I don’t know why, I had a tumor, right? And I’ve never smoked, and it was in there for 10 years. So get this, they took it out and found it in another scan.”
Kathy Griffin underwent vocal cord surgery two years after her lung cancer diagnosis. She shared about the procedure via TikTok, revealing that she underwent the surgery “to be in good shape for my big Vegas show” in June 2023.
Kathy also revealed that the surgery was a part of her “recovery post-lung cancer journey.” She thanked her “kick-a** female voice surgeon” in the video and mentioned her in the caption,
“I so appreciate you guys following along on my journey to get my voice back after #lungcancer! Big shout out to Dr.Barbu.”
Earlier that year, in April, Kathy had also opened up about being diagnosed with complex PTSD through TikTok. She spoke about it in a clip,

Kathy Griffin referenced the backlash and cancellation she received after her controversial 2017 photoshoot with a decapitated dummy head that resembled Donald Trump. She added,
“If any of you know my story, you'll understand that this really started for me about 5 and 1/2 years ago. Link. You know the cancer didn't help. All right, I look forward to reading the comments. Okay.”
Kathy Griffin seemingly takes a jibe at Donald Trump in a recent Instagram post

In the announcement post, she mentioned her private nurse and teased while writing,
“I'm going to do a @patreon post later about my private “nurse” (who possibly… got her scrubs online.)”
Griffin added,
“I sent her home because She also thinks that “tariffs” are “terrorists.” so she kept saying stuff like “I don't like Donald Trump anymore because the price of eggs is going up, and now he's adding terrorists!””
Kathy Griffin recently concluded her standup tour, “My Life On The PTSD List.” She posted about wrapping up the tour recently in Albany, New York, and promised to return soon with something else.
