Aaron Ashmore recently appeared on the Inside of You podcast hosted by his Smallville co-star, Michael Rosenbaum. During his chat, the Ginny & Georgia actor spoke candidly on many topics, including his quiet divorce with ex-wife Zoë Kate during the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to Who's Dated Who, the former couple started dating in 2009. Aaron Ashmore and Zoë Kate tied the knot in 2014 and share two daughters. Their elder child, Esme, was born in 2016, and the Fear Island actor posted about the same on X (formerly Twitter),
“I'm a father! After a very scary birth, Zoë and our baby girl are recovering well.”
In April 2019, Aaron Ashmore shared a picture with her newly born second daughter, Margot,
“My second amazing daughter has arrived safe and sound. All my love to my wife for growing and delivery this gift. Truly #blessed photo cred to the wonderful @scarletoneill”
The couple parted ways a few years back, which the Warehouse 13 actor talked about recently.
Aaron Ashmore recently talked about challenging times, quiet divorce, and his father’s death

On Inside of You, Michael Rosenbaum asked the Smallville alum about the toughest time he had faced. Aaron Ashmore highlighted the challenges he faced during the pandemic when his father died and his marriage ended. The actor recalled,
“COVID was a really tough time. We had a brand new baby, my dad got stuck home with a 3-year-old and a newborn, and my dad got ill over that time period and passed away. And then eight months after that, my wife and I decided to split up.”
He continued,
“I was grieving my dad, and then, you know, my marriage dissolved and stuff, so that was about two and a half years ago, and things are great now, but that the past two years or like, you know, sort of… There was about a two-and-a-half-year period that was just, like, the hits just kept coming, man.”

On being asked about opting for therapy, Ashmore replied,
“We were actually in therapy for our merit. Like, my ex is a therapist… so there was always a lot of encouragement to do therapy, and so we did. We did our due diligence for our relationship and our marriage.”
The actor said that he and his wife were in therapy for almost a year before their split. Ashmore also spoke about selling his house due to financial troubles and how it impacted his mental health. He added,
“It just represented something, like the last thing that our marriage… The true end of, you know, it was like we’ve done all this work on this house, whatever, and then… this is it man, like there’s nothing left of this — I mean, the kids of course, of course — but, sort of, in our life together.”

Aaron recounted how his brother Shawn Ashmore and other friends helped him overcome his mental health struggles. During the conversation, the actor was also asked about the “GMA” tattoo he and his brother share.
Aaron Ashmore said that the GMA (Good Man Ashmore) tattoo was a nod to their step-grandfather Gangu Jagtiani's nickname. He described Gangu as a great guy. During the chat, Aaron fondly remembered his late step-granddad, who hailed from India. He revealed that Jagtiani married his grandmother before his and Shawn’s birth; hence, he was always their “grandfather.”
