Victor Wembanyama is expected to miss the 2024-25 NBA regular season, San Antonio Spurs announced on Thursday, February 20. Wembanyama has been diagnosed with deep vein thrombosis. The condition will keep him away from the game for a while.

In the 2023 NBA, Spurs chose the French player as their No. 1 pick. The San Antonio-based team reportedly signed a $55.2 million deal with Wembanyama for four years. Per Celebrity Net Worth, Wembanyama has an estimated net worth of $10 million.

As a part of his deal with the Spurs, Wembanyama earned around $12.1 million in his rookie season. He even claimed Rookie of the Year award in the 2023-24 season. Following a promising start to his NBA career, Victor Wembanyama was contracted to earn $12.7 million in the ongoing season.

Per his contract with the Spurs, the player will earn $13.3 million and $16.7 in the next two seasons.

An official announcement from the San Antonio Spurs revealed that DVT had affected Victor Wembanyama’s right shoulder. The NBA star was diagnosed after his return to San Antonio following the NBA All-Star game in San Francisco.

In an official statement, the Spurs announced,

“Victor Wembanyama has been diagnosed with deep vein thrombosis in his right shoulder. The condition was discovered when Wembanyama returned to San Antonio following the All-Star Game in San Francisco.”

It further reads,

“Wembanyama is expected to miss the remainder of the 2024-25 regular season. The team will provide updates as appropriate.”

The condition will keep him out for an indefinite time, which has sparked concerns among the fans.
