Actor and comedian Seth Rogen seems to have stepped into the limelight following his comments on Donald Trump at the Breakthrough Prize ceremony in 2025. However, his remark had to be removed following the livestream.
At the event, which happened on April 5, 2025, co-presenter of the Special Breakthrough Prize in Physics, Edward Norton, started by complimenting a few of the tech figures in the crowd, but Rogen quickly chimed in with a pointed remark. The Hollywood Reporter quoted his verbatim:
“And it’s amazing that others [who have been] in this room underwrote electing a man who, in the last week, single-handedly destroyed all of American science.”
He went on:
“It’s amazing how much good science you can destroy with $320 million and RFK Jr, very fast.”

As per the news outlet, when questioned about the removal of Seth Rogen’s remarks, a representative from the Breakthrough Prize Foundation explained that the ceremony ran longer than in previous years, so several edits were made to stay within the planned duration.
However, this isn’t the first time the actor has made political comments. During an interview with Esquire, published on February 11, 2025, he shared his thoughts about the nation in the present political atmosphere. Seth Rogen said:
“I personally try not to go too dark on all of it and think like, Oh, are we on the precipice of global societal collapse? Since the end of the Civil War, America’s remained a very divided country in a lot of ways.”
He reflected on society’s shifting attitudes, noting how people tend to swing between extremes, from rejecting counterculture to pushing back against authority. However, he still held on to hope that progress would continue, even if unevenly.
What did Seth Rogen write to Trump’s son on Twitter (now X)?
In 2017, Seth Rogen was invited on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, where Rogen shared an interesting interaction he had with Donald Trump Jr. He said Trump Jr. followed him on Twitter (now X), and he followed back to initiate a conversation. Stephen Colbert then showed a placard of a post Rogen shared on the platform. The tweet read:
“Yo! @DonaldJTrumpJr! I noticed you follow me on Twitter. Please ask your dad to resign before he destroys the planet. Thanks dude.”
Seth Rogen recalled being surprised when Donald Trump Jr. ignored him, especially since he had made an effort to be courteous during the interaction. Colbert then showed another placard of a direct message that Rogen sent to Trump Jr. The message was:
“Hey man! It's Seth. Your father is trying to discredit our media, collude with Russia, and destroy the environment. It would be super cool of you to be like "yo, dad, why don't you stop all this and go back to being Just a guy on TV. The majority of the world would be pretty psyched. Thanks!!!”
However, he did not receive any response from the President’s son. Colbert then suggested that he would message Trump Jr. and ask him to return Seth Rogen’s messages.
