Quincy Jones passed away earlier this month on November 3, and his cause of death has only just come out. The late music producer died of pancreatic cancer, TMZ has reported, and there were no other contributing factors. He died at his home in Los Angeles, with his loved ones by his side.

At the time, a statement from the same read:

"Tonight, with full but broken hearts, we must share the news of our father and brother Quincy Jones’ passing. Although this is an incredible loss for our family, we celebrate the great life that he lived and know there will never be another like him."

The news comes almost two weeks after the musician's death was confirmed. Prior to his passing, Jones kept his cancer diagnosis private. In the wake of his demise, his daughter and actress Rashida Jones issued a tribute on Instagram on November 7:

"My dad was nocturnal his whole life. He kept ‘jazz hours’ starting in high school and never looked back. When I was little, I would wake up in the middle of the night to search for him. Undoubtedly, he would be somewhere in the house, composing (old school, with a pen and sheet music). He would never send me back to bed. He would smile and bring me into his arms while he continued to work...there was no safer place in the world for me."

She continued, referring to her late father as a "giant, an icon, a culture shifter," and a "genius."

"All accurate descriptions of my father but his music (and ALL of his work) was a channel for his love. He WAS love. He made everyone he ever met feel loved and seen. That’s his legacy. I was fortunate enough to experience this love in close proximity. I’ll miss his hugs and kisses and unconditional devotion and advice. Daddy, it is an honor to be your daughter. Your love lives forever."

Quincy Jones was renowned for his cultural impact on both, the music and film industries, respectively. He was put to rest in LA, during a private family ceremony. His seven children, his brother, two sisters, and other immediate family members were in attendance.

Quincy Jones can be credited for the success of some of the most notable projects in history, such as Michael Jackson's albums like Off the Wall (1980), Thriller (1982), and Bad (1987). He also worked with Frank Sinatra many a time over the course of decades, including on It Might as Well Be Swing (1964), Sinatra at the Sands (1966), and his final album L.A. Is My Lady (1984).
